Vehicle Detail
Hi you are looking at a 1977 olds 442 that I am helping a fellow car buff sell. It is a nice straight unrestored body that has a few flaws but I think that the price reflects that I have taken plenty of pictures so you can be your own judge of the condition I'll tell you what I know about it and my observations. First off it seems to be totaly origional with the exception of the rear quarters being repainted which was not a great color match but I'd say it was to repair a few holes over the rear wheels there is a small hole on the bottom of one rear quarter and a bubble under the paint passenger side rear window area there is a small dent on the passengers side of the hood and the front bumper is missing some chrome on the lower part and is showing rust in this area but is still solid. The face pieces are all road chipped as are the mirrors. The drivers seat has a small vertical rip otherwise the interior is very nice. The engine is a 260 cubic inch v8 with a 2 barrel carb and has a 5 speed he says is factory equipped and I can find no evidence to believe it is not. I have driven the car and it actual goes quite well no squeeks or rattles shifts great and goes down the road very nicely. The current owner drives it daily depending on the weather and if I owned it I would do the same. He selling to buy his wife a mustang or something she doesn't like the standard I guess, No matter my take on it is it is a straight solid body that is mechanically sound that really needs a paint job and some detail work under the hood to be a very visually appealing ride. If this is your style of car and are willing to put in a little effort I think this a great buy on a car. If you are looking for something that is perfect out of the box pass this one up. I am more than happy to answer all questions regarding this car to the best of my (and owner) knowledge gladly take pictures of whatever you like. For what it is worth a winning bid does not buy you the right to negotiate the price when you come to pick it up. Buyer is responsable for all shipping costs I have a guy that has moved cars for us before and I'll pass that name along if you like. I checked with the owner today and he does not have a tital to the car, not an issue in this state but it may be in yours so check it out before you bid. He also showed me a folder from the origional owner of all the maitence for the life of the car extreamley well maintained by the dealer from which it was purchased into this century. He also found the build sheet and I have a copy that I can email if you like I think I can scan it and send it. Everything is consistant to the car as it is seen. I was going to list the car as milage as being the first time around untill I saw the maitence records which proved it was indead plus 100k. It could easly pass as origional miles. I'm sure there are things I'm forgetting so ask plenty of questions, definatly not trying to get rich here he just wants some money for the mustang his wife just bought and I'm tired of him complaining it won't sell. There will be a $500 paypal deposit due within 48 hours of close of auction non refundable. I'd prefer the remainder in a bank check to the owner but will paypal if needed it's just a pain to get him his money. I'd love to hear from anyone who knows more about these cars than me and if you think I have made a mistake in the listing I'd like to know. thanks for looking and please ask questions.
