Vehicle Detail

IMMACULATE 1979 CARMINE RED MGB 18,500 Original Miles MULTIPLE SOUTHEAST US CAR SHOW WINNER LOW RESERVE This is a beautiful, 1979 Carmine Red MGB. I am the second owner of this vehicle having purchased the car from the initial purchaser in 2005 with 1,500 original miles. The original owner purchased the car new and essentially parked it (due to a stroke I was told) in a warehouse for 25 years. Over the course of the past 5 years, I have driven the vehicle in the Spring/Fall months, entered it in several British auto shows in the Atlanta area and at all other times the car has been covered and garaged. The vehicle comes with some interesting documentation including the original BL window sticker ($6,933.00), owner's manual, title, and other original documents (limited rust protection warranty, log book, service records from the 80's, "Passport to Service"etc) and some very original advertising pages from R/T on MGB's from the 70's. The operating manual for the original Panasonic AM radio still in vehicle that works perfectly is included. From a document standpoint, which is important, I cannot visualize a more complete historical record of an MGB. I think the pictures speak well of how pristine the car car presents. The paint is the original and beautiful. There are a few "dings" here and there but nothing to take away from the appearance, which again the car is a multiple award winner in its class. The interior is flawless and original with no tears in the seats, however, there is a 3" rip in the black carpet (original) on the driver side floorboard. Mechanically and operationally, all systems on the car runs perfect. Since my purchase in 2005, I have, of course, serviced the vehicle regularly with a local ATL British car mechanic. All gauges, instruments, horn, signals, lights, cigarette lighter (remember those days?) work perfectly. The 25 mpg is an added bonus. The convertible top/tonneau is the original top together with the original jack and other trunk equipment, still in the original bag. There is another cockpit tonneau cover still in the original package and never used. The only original items I changed on the car was I replaced the original PAINTED wire wheels with POLISHED wire wheels. Note the spare, original Dunlop tire, still has a PAINTED wire wheel. Last week I did replace the battery ($110.00). Included in the auction price are numerous MGB parts purchased from British Victoria/Moss and a new set of floor mats with MGB red logo I use only at car shows. I cannot imagine a more authentic 1979 MGB for everyday driving and entry into British themed car shows. The vehicle always draws a crowd with questions and compliments. Due to knee surgery, I simply have too many problems getting in and out of the vehicle. I will be happy to answer any questions or arrange for an inspection in the Atlanta area. Please don't send me emails asking what the reserve is---it is extremely low relative to the quality of the vehicle, the mechanical soundness of the car, and what I paid for the car.
