Up For Auction Is My 1992 Volkswagen Jetta GL FFV, I Bought this Car a little over a year ago from a Lady that Used to Work for the Methanol factory in South Bend Indiana, The Info that I have on this Car is What I have been told from Her, or From Searching Online. The Lady I bought this From Told me that the Milage on the Dash is Correct, That the Jetta was only used to Drive Back and forth between buildings at the Methanal Factory. I bought it with Just a little Over 17,000 Miles on it, and have put 5000 more miles on it in 14 months time, and when I told the People at the DMV that the Miles where correct, they gave me a funny look, not believing that a car that is 18 years old could have so few miles on it, But it is what I was told and the Engine looks in great shape for it's age, This Jetta Is a Rare Flex Fuel Vehical (FFV), Volkswagen only made 60 in 1991 then 100 more where made in 1992, they where only sold directly to Methanol Factories in the United States, this Car can get about 75 to 80 miles per gallon using M85 Methanol from What I have read online, and about 50 to 55 miles per gallon using regular gasoline, I drove from Niles Michigan, to Chicago Ill. and Back on less then $20.00, so it gets great Gas Miles. I also read online that there is a conversion Kit to Change the Flex fuel From Methanol M85 to Ethanol E85, by changing a sensor that can be bought online for around $25.00. I have added two links below about the Jetta and about the Methanol Please Copy and Paste them, clicking on them is not working right... http://www.greencar.com/articles/cars-alcohol-part-1-m85-methanol-emerges.php http://www.nyserda.org/programs/pdfs/VOL3SC22.PDF OK, for the Bad The Jetta Will Have to be Towed, About 3 weeks ago I was trying to Put in a new Car Stereo, and I set off the Anti Theft device, now the Car will not start, the Anti Theft Device locks out the Starter, All the Other Electrics still work but the car will not turn over, I called the Volkswagen Dealership, and they said it was very common, and that I needed a Factory Reset, which should cost around $58.00 to fix, having it towed would cost more then the repair it's self. I don't have the Extra Money to have it towed and Fixed right now and I own 2 other vehicals so it's not a major Priority, it is my Loss and your Gain, The Car did run befor I tried to put the Stereo in, and I drove it every day back and forth to work about 5 miles each day, and a couple road trips to Chicago and to Indy so It is Great on the Road. It also Needs A new Thermostat, It will still drive with out it, and only over heats if I let the car set running for a long time, so No drive thru's until it's fixed, The RPM's Odometer does not work, everything else on the Dash does. There is a small rust spot about the Size of a Golf Ball, on the Drivers Side Back door, It is Pictured, it's small would be an easy fix, no other major Rust Spots or Body Dents. It needs a New Stereo and Door Speakers. It would look great with a new Paint Job, You can still see where the Letters from the Methanol Factory where removed. Needs to be Vacuumed Out and Whipped clean of dust, just haven't had time to do it..
