Vehicle Detail
Your search is over. Up for auction is 102161...1958 Super Coupe. All original. Unmolested. Very desirable color combination. Incredibly complete (99.9%) and correct. All numbers that a 356 is born with, engine (81363), transmission (BBBC.17057), doors, deck lid, and hood. Great gaps. Pristine unkinked hood. Doors shut like a dream. COA, service book, etc. The only accident damage is the left front fender, (see photo). There will be a fair amount of metal work needed on the underside...as with most. Battery box, one shock tower, headlight buckets, patches in parts of the torsions and lower sections of the en-closers. The perimeter of the whole car...pinch rolls in fender wells, and lower front and rear are very nice. Looks like the floor pans, longitudinals, and jack spurs will live. Skim coat of filler on the leaded seams. Outside lower bottom of doors will need to be addressed, (the inside surrounds and undersides are fine). Looks like one repaint years ago. Interior has nice patina, seats have been done to a nice standard, fairly new carpet kit, not German sq. weave. All electrical, harness, gauges, under the dash, etc. look wonderful. Excellent floor board kicks, soundproofing, and trunk mat. Engine #81363 is a turn key...New--main and rod bearings, crank reconditioned, valves, push rod tubes, complete seal kit, oil and fuel pump, oil lines, pressure sending unit, fan belt, plugs, generator, muffler and clamps, powder coating and decals. Distributor completely rebuilt, calibrated and curved by Ed Fall, (new point, rotor, cap, and condenser). Clutch--new disc and pressure plate, and throw out. Carburetors have been completely gone through, nice linkage, and fuel lines. All tolerances, flywheel clearance, end play, etc. in specs. Air Cooling Engineering dynoed, passed with flying colors, (see pics on leek down and compression)...H.P. @ 74.8, Torque @ 99.7 Lbs. Video on Photobucket shows it on the dyno under the stress test. There are only two parts in need...ash tray and the dash cover. Jack, no tool kit. Make a nice driver, or with it's pedigree, concourse. I reserve the right to end the auction early. On Apr-17-10 at 20:15:22 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry everyone...I missed the photo of the left front accident damage...Go to "click here for more photos"...It will be the first picture...The Video of the motor on the dyno will be the second photo, (give it a couple of seconds to play the video)...Danke, Kurt
