Vehicle Detail
The old girl is back. My wife is on me about too much stuff in the yard. The shed is full and I don't want to mow around it now that the snow is gone. This is not the first rodeo for this truck. As much as I hate to see it go too cheap, I have a 30 year marrage to think about. There is a low reserve on this truck, half of what it was listed before. For that low of a price and the fact that the weater is nice now, I do not want to store it for long. One way or another it needs to be gone by mid-May. The same tale is told below; so for those that passed it by before, you can skip the 'rest of the story'. 1945 Dodge 2 ton farm truck. Model WFA32 Serial # 81349096. Additional plate on right door post: 4112-121411 236 Flathead Six Motor # 126558 It has a 4 speed transmission with a two speed rear axle. It looks to have a power booster on the brakes. The Wheelbase is 160”. Max. GVW 14,000 lbs. A 14 foot bed with back and side deliveries. My father bought this truck in the early fifties and last licensed it in 1974. It was strictly a grain hauler in central Montana. I believe the 25,855 is the real mileage but I would not swear to it. I do not remember it getting much use from the mid-sixties on. Last fall I pulled it out of a storage shed on the farm (where we had parked it and drained the gas and water) where it has sit since the late seventies. I pulled it out and brought it home and cleaned it up. I pulled the plugs and cleaned them; cleaned the fuel system, filled it with water and tried to start it. The starter turned it over fine. We tried pull starting. It had lots of compression but no spark. The weather turned on me before I could check the electrical system. It is drained and parked once more. The tires hold air but are in rough shape. The bottom hinge on the driver’s door is broke. The floorboard is gone and it had a piece of plywood in its place. The door panel on the passenger side is missing. The fuel tank is gone and Dad had a 55 gal drum in the box as a fuel tank. Some of the glass is cracked but all of it is still in place… The mice had their way with the seat though…
