Vehicle Detail
I recently completed a driver-quality restoration on this nice 1977 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE convertible, refinished in its original TRIUMPH Delft Blue. It is not a show car, but the mechanical work is done and it is a fun, reliable and presentable weekend driver. It starts easily on the automatic choke, runs smoothly and cool with strong acceleration and good oil pressure, shifts smoothly, and it handles and brakes as expected for a 40-year-old British sports-car. All lights, turn-signals, hazard flashers, windshield wipers, horn and other notorious Lucas electrics work as designed (today, ha-ha!). The actual mileage is unknown because the speedometer was missing when I purchased the car and mileage is indicated as “exempt” on the title. The following parts are NEW in the past year: · Electronic Distributor (no points to mess with)· Carburetor (rebuilt)· Water Pump and Fan Blade· Battery· Clutch· Clutch Master (rebuilt) and Slave Cylinders· Brake Master Cylinder and Wheel Cylinders· Brake Flex Lines· All Belts and Hoses· Driver’s Front Floorpan· Ignition Switch· Gas Tank and sender unit· Tune-Up (Plugs, Wires, Air Filter)· Rear Leaf Spring and Front Coil Springs· Front and Rear Shock Absorbers· Tie Rod Ends, Steering Rack Brackets and Boot Kit.· 175-70-13 Radial-Ply Tires· O.E.M. style Convertible Top with zip-out rear window· Interior Panels and Carpet· All rubber window, door, trunk and bonnet weather seals· Dashboard Cover· Seat Covers (over Mazda Miata Seats)· MAACO enamel paint job (nice shine, awesome from 10 ft but some up-close imperfections) There are still some things you can tinker with if you want. I didn’t install a radio although I put speaker wires under the carpet and there is an antenna to add one later if desired. The heater box is bypassed (I thought it was unnecessary in central FL). There is a little play in the U-joint on the driver-side half-axle that may eventually need to be addressed. There is no key for the door and trunk locks. You could install new locksets if desired. None of these things are necessary if you just want a fun weekend driver! I have a clear Florida title in my name. Inspections are welcomed PRIOR to auction completion. $500 deposit via Paypal is due within 24 hours of auction close.Link to YouTube video of the car on the highway at 60+ mph: https://youtu.be/V1is_uV5l8o
