Vehicle Detail
Selling our beloved family vacation van due to emerging transmission problems that we don't want to spend money on and due to the fact that we need to pay off some medical bills. Lately, the transmission is slipping when you take off from rest. We are still driving the van on short errands, but we don't pull out in front of anybody because we have to ease it into gear. I took the van to a transmission place and they said a snap ring had broken off. The amount of money to fix it would be at the most $2700 if all was worn out but could be less. I used AMSOIL synthetic transmission oil in this so it has been well lubricated. Hopefully it will be less than $2700. The engine has been amazing - the only problem we have ever experienced in 12 years, was a spark plug popping out twice. We have used Amsoil synthetic oil in it since Iwe have had it, both in the engine and transmission. We also decided to have new tie rods and other front in work done about 3 years ago. Unfortunately, ever since that work, our brake light comes on. We took it back to the same shop, but they were unable to get it to stay off. They said the sensor is being blocked. Very frustrating, but it doesn't seem to be effecting anything. For it's age, 2002, this van is in decent cosmetic condition. The seats are good with a minor tear in the driver's seat, the exterior has a few dings and scratches, the carpet has stains. There is also an issue with the air conditioning blower motor in the back - it will work but sometimes has to be started using something to spin it with. The power seat in the very back runs, but the back bench seat does not move. However, it is in the "bed" position, so you can have either a back seat or a bed. The middle seats are manual. Both front seats are power and working at present. At least one tire needs to be replaced. It also is equipped with a towing package and will tow a large travel trailer. It has an Archer Conversion Package featuring an elegant interior with beautiful wooden trim and mood lighting that works. We traveled all over with it and had a blast. We honestly would fix the transmission and keep it, but all our kids grew up. We just don't use it very much anymore, and we need some funds to pay off medical bills. We would trust the engine to go from Arkansas to California and back if the transmission were back up to par. Hope it will bless you the way it has blessed us.
