Vehicle Detail
I bought this Metralla in 2007, my third, as a ‘solid rider’ from a Bevelheads ‘friend’ in Chicago. A dead rat came and he refused to take it back. The odo read 2025, not likely original. In 2008-9 Hugh’s Bultaco in NY restored it to as new, stock and correct except for MBZ ignition and, a couple of years ago, a Mikuni carb. The electrics work and the oil tank is there but not the legendary pump. I broke it in carefully and rode it on back roads. So cool! I had a ’67 TR-6R and checked period road tests for performance info. 0-60 and top speed are the same. Much as I love the Bul, I didn’t ride it as much as I would have liked. A health issue detuned me for several years. Fortunately it passed, but my desire for the Bul had too. Current mileage is 2452. Two years ago I took it to Hugh’s for revival. Tim said the Amal was tired and recommended a Milkuni which is on the bike. It started and ran fine but its owner, again, didn’t ride it enough so the tank and Mikuni need cleaning. Time for a new, more loving owner. With clear New Jersey title, this sale includes goodies of substantial value - the Amal, manifold, air filter and throttle cable, a good, used headlight shell with 2 rims, a center stand with extra rubbers, spare shocks, brake shoes, bulbs, shifter parts, a top clamp (not clip-on), foot peg rubbers, a chain rubber, a couple of cables, 2 keys for the side box (can carry enough oil to refill the tank), other bits, the Service Manual, Parts List/Catalog, original Owner’s Manual with photocopy, MBZ literature, a copy of January 1964 Cycle World road test of 200cc Metralla, Sherpa and TSS and John Somerville’s Bultaco - My Obsession. Sale is as is, where is. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I’ll pack the spares for the purchaser’s designee. The bike is at Morristown, NJ 07960. Please feel free to contact me with questions. Pleased let me know if you want any others. On Nov-03-18 at 10:19:24 PDT, seller added the following information: This morning I had to try - again - to make the bike run. It was extremely hard to start when it came home from Hugh's. When it did it ran great. Between the hard starting and health issue I lost interest. I just drained the stale gas and made up new premix. Then checked the plug; it sparked. Something said check the gap. .031". The manual calls for .016"-20". 4 kicks and it was running. As they should. All it now needs is a good polishing to be a real stunner and great rider.
