Up for bid is a RARE 1978 Saab 99 Turbo! First year of the 99 Turbo and first Saab to sell for over 10K. Overall very few were manufactured, 4233 units were shipped the US between 1977-1978 1,300 went to the UK and 1,000 stayed in Sweden where they were manufactured, making it very desirable. According to the Sweden records only 275 (aprox) left in Sweden. The 99 Turbo weighed 2500lbs and produced 145hp, 174 Lb-ft, and did 0-60mph in 8.9 seconds beating the Mustang Cobra!!! Making this a very quick and desirable car for almost any car enthusiast! As you can tell in the pictures this is a very loved one owner car with only 129,499 original miles. So loved that he kept all service manuals, all maintenance records, magazines that featured the car, original bill of sale and ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER (believe it or not)!!! I also have the actual Saab service manual and receipt of it, that he purchased separately for $60 back in 1980. He was very reluctant to part with it due to all the memories that were made over the years including their Honeymoon!!! They bought a house in the 90's and he literally built the foundation of his house around the car with all hopes of finding the issue and repairing so he could enjoy for many more years. They have recently decided to retire, sell the house and travel so dragging the car with them is not an option. This car has not been on the road or started since 1986, he parked it due to a lack of power, it ran and drove but was very sluggish. The owner has no real knowledge of a fuel injected car since it was new technology back then. We hooked jumper cables up to the car...all the dash, instrument, brake, head lights turned on immediately. When trying to start it just clicks at the starter solenoid, but that's as far as I am willing to diagnose since its not my car. We checked the dip stick and the oil is black however no signs of antifreeze. The headliner is sagging and has a whole in the rear driver side, it will also need a radio, they parked in in the Bronx many years ago and someone stole it. Other than those items the interior is in good condition for the year. I have a ton of pics that I can send you via email at your request. Exterior paint has faded and has minimal surface rust here and there, along with some scratches...it is a 78. Absolutely no rot, the car was undercoated from the factory as you can read on the window sticker. We have close to 100 pics so just ask and we send them to you! The last 2 1978 Saab 99 Turbo sold for $27,500 with 56k and $17,250 with 113k on Bring A Trailer auctions. We will gladly work with the shipping company of your choice!
