2001 Honda Insight Hybrid The car that started it all. This is a 2001 Honda Insight Hybrid, the first hybrid available on US Roads. Launched in 1999, this is still the most fuel efficient vehicle on the road that is gas powered. I am selling this vehicle, which is my personal commuter car ONLY because I have procured another vehicle for commuting, I recently purchased a full Electric Vehicle. I bought this vehicle approx 4 years ago when I decided I needed a more fuel efficient commuter car to get to work, seeing as my commute is 76 miles round trip. Using this car I spent at most $70 a MONTH on gas. I bought the car from a dealer in Texas (94k miles) and drove it all the way back home to South Carolina with no troubles. Upon getting home, the following maintenance was performed:Oil Change using Castrol Syntec Edge 0w-20Brake Fluid FlushDifferential/Transaxle Fluid ChangeRadiator/Cooling System FlushSteering component checkBrake system check To give some back ground, I do my own maintenance as I am an ASE Certified Master tech (will show credentials upon sale). Since this time, I have put approximately 80k miles on the car. All flawless and with zero issues. When I purchased the car, it had a few scratches/hood chips and such but those were of no concern since it was to be my commuter car, not a show car. Those scratches and such are shown clearly in the photos. I have also given it a few upgrades as follows totaling almost $2,000:In dash 7" touchscreen head unit with nav. Fully Android powered and supports apps such as Waze, Youtube etc. The ONLY head unit you can install to an Insight with a screen given the single DIN dash and odd climate control panel. $400 Grid Charger. Installed to allow me to balance the battery pack and prevent premature failure of the IMA system. This was to be proactive as this is a common practice among those familiar with Honda IMA systems used on the Insight and Civic Hybrid. $300 15x7 Advanti DST Storm wheels. Purchased specifically because they are lighter than the original wheels from Honda which preserves fuel economy but gives a better looks and traction. Additionally, these use a more common tire size which actually made buying tires cheaper and more readily available. These wheels and tires only have about 3k miles on them. With these wheels, using AC, on my commute I average 60.1 MPG. Lifetime of the car average is 56.4 MPG. (Lots of AC use here in SC) $1000Hertz Audio speaker set. All 4 speakers replaced as the OEM paper cones were terrible. These are much higher quality with no distortion even at higher sound levels. $250I have had ZERO problems from this car, much as you'd expect from a Honda. At this time, the following maintenance items have been completed within the past 1k miles: Oil Change with again, Castrol Syntec Edge 0w-20.Clutch Fluid Flush.Brake Fluid Flush.New Brake Pads (Ceramic) and rotors (Cross Drilled)Full Engine Cleaning with heated pressure wash. Valve Adjustment with new Valve Cover Gasket.Door/Window/Hatch Seals lubricated with DuPont Krytox. If youve never head of Krytox, this is an oil preservative used by the likes of VW, BMW, Mercedes owners to assure there are no squeaks/rattles from the seals on the car and to assure they dont dry rot. Headlights PolishedIMA Battery Grid Charged and driven 60miles to allow re-calibration.The interior is very well kept and I personally cleaned the entire car, inside and out every weekend with Meguiars car care products as I do with all of my vehicles weekly. The only issues on the interior of note are Small scratch on glove box lid. Doesn't affect function. Slight wear on drivers seat bolster from ingress/egress. Drivers seat belt slow to retract due to age. There are no major tears or rips and the interior still smells new. Photos should give you a good idea of the condition. If only the reserve is met but doesnt pass the BIN price, then the Advantis will NOT be included. They will be sold seperately. I am hoping to sell this to someone who will take care of it as I have as its been a great car and Id like to see it go to a caring home. Its 100% driveable as is and needs nothing to start using. It is a USED car, do not expect showroom perfect! Also, it has no warranty given implied or expressed.
