This Colorado was professionally put together. It was not designed for drag racing, but as a reliable sleeper..Extremely well handling. Runs and drives perfectly, straight as an arrow, needing nothing. This Sleeper, will leave many cars in the 100K-200K range, well behind, wondering what just happened. Thousands of dollars were spent., not counting labor of 1600 hours Approximately a thousand hours to connect the computer and align every electrical component to the Corvette Engine, its management to the Chevy Colorado’s internal wiring. Example, the Air conditioning, the speedometer, the tach, water temperature gauges, (factory & aftermarket) all integrated as professionally as if this was done at the Chevy factory and was offered to the public . Since purchase (Inc purchase price) over $65,000 has been spent . Essentially, a Corvette with a Colorado body on top, frame was stiffened with new cross members, , ultra-tight suspension, all upgraded,, many trophies including best of show, Scottsdale Arizona . All documentation from new, factory window sticker, manuals, order build sheet, to receipts . Truck started life with a corvette engine installed after purchase (2007). Then at 100k, a Brand new LS376/480 525hp engine, LS9 Cam installed (with long tube headers, dyno-ed @ 523HP)-- engine at the flywheel estimate 550hp -- from GM, was installed . automatic converted to T56 6spd- the entire truck was rebuilt into its current state, as close to a frame up as one can get. Drivetrain, all components replaced, converted, . The following is just a partial list of upgrades at the 100,000 mile mark -------New LS376/480 with T56 spd transmission Inc clutch and all in-between as well as starter alternator, complete. New Long Tube Headers- Flow master exhaust , with dual pipes running all the way to the rear 2 outlets, (see picture)--Engine moved back 3 inches for better handling (new engine mounts installed)Trans was automatic, allowing more clearance. New custom balanced driveshaft, new u-joints. Truck weighs less than factory GVW, weight. Have official scale report.. Entire suspension upgraded with new bushings, seals, brakes, shocks (all high performance) Very street able -extremely flat around corners, --Air Conditioning moved back-(closer to dash) intake tube- shortened, allowing immediate air cond- currently blows ice cold, all new. Entire interior removed, dash seats carpets, then sound deadening material and insulation installed. 2 objectives. 1. Scottsdale summers average 115 degrees and the mtn home in Flagstaff in the winter can go well below freezing. With the air conditioning reworked and the entire interior insulated the interior within seconds becomes ice cold, even with the outside teperature at 117 degress, within a minute, I turn the fan sped to its lowest setting or it just gets too cold inside. in the cold weather the same principle applies, the interior is very easy to keep warm 2. is significantly quieter for normal driving. . Installing engine and all listed upgrades,. Including new 4:10 Posi new upgraded stronger rear axle with 4:10 gearing instead of 3:73. (50mph 1000 rpm)- took well over -600 hours in labor to upgrade. probably closer to 800 hours. When you look underneath the truck you will notice where the dual exhaust has been welded together for not only less vibration and strength, that the weld itself testifies of the quality of the work that was done. No expenses were spared to get it right 1000 hours to calibrate engine, transmission with all gauges, and new Lingenfelter performance chip. as previously noted : New aluminum radiator (oversized) with electric high performance fan to keep engine temp in operating range---New Optima Red Top battery installed behind rear seat, 8/15/2018 --2 extra new rear tires in bed of truck. Recent new front tires with about 200 miles on them. Rear tires currently on when upgraded (19000 miles on them, see last picture -show minimal wear. List is too much to add online. Oil changed (August 31, 2018), with Mobil One Synthetic and new oil filter, Also flushed radiator . You tube was with the 2007 corvette engine. Just for demo was it opened up. That motor dyno-ed at 430hp Have dyno records. This new drivetrain to the rear wheels dyno-ed at 523hp and 488ft lbs. -At 50mph in 6th engine barely turns 1000rpm ,. The Colorado has a little over 19,000 miles since complete make over was undertaken. Approximately 119,686 on the odometer, with the last 19+k, since upgraded, no issues whatsoever. , The Conclusion, the photo of the drivers seat looks somewhat worn, just shadows from taking the picture. Carpets appear orange, under the dash lights were on once door was opened. To be concours, the front bumper cover needs a repaint from road chips. from normal driving,does not show in photos, just tiny speckles. All panels are clean with absolutely no dings, or dents. Sides, top, hood, rear are all perfect. and still look new, no brush car wash. no sealants on paint, no cut and buff or oxidation. Same as when purchased . . Headlights, are perfect, no road specks, as new. Underside of vehicle looks showroom clean. Same with all suspension components. No leaks, drips or otherwise. All wiring professionally installed, high grade, no homemade type splices. All pictures except for the one that was used as the main picture and of the vehicle on the driveway in Scottsdale were all taken, within the last 2 weeks of posting the pictures. All in the month of September 2018, The car show ones were last Saturday Sept 8th 2018 Truck has never been driven in inclement weather and was transported to Utah, approximately 4 weeks ago. If you look at the rear drivers wheel well you will notice no chips inside fender skirt directly behind the tires nor road tar, or otherwise-- with the same tires as installed at the 100K mark, indicative that this has been driven correctly. In 2007 a brand new LS3 $6567.00 was purchased to coincide with all the planned and prepaid parts, with the build taking another year to complete. another year to complete..2008 it became a drtiver and at approximately 95,000 miles it was on you tube with the 4160 auto trans -3500 rpm stall convertor - year 2011. after youtube a complete makeover was started and add a new rear end with 4:10 gearing, as well as new crossmenmbers, larger sway bars, tinted windows ++++++++ 2 years later a Brand New LS376 (A LS9 cam was installed after speaking with with the techs at GM),(2013) along with a 6 spd trans, started driving to make sure no issues and then entered the Scottsdale car show, (Late 2013) very high caliber competition where it won best of show., driven on a regular basis as a driver for approximately 118,600 miles were on the odometer, then an injury, a left knee replacement and a new build was started on another different sleeper with an automatic,,l. Nov 2014 the Chevy Colorado, was put into storage. Since 2014, approximately a 1000 miles to keep it lubricated were added. Current odometer reads 119686, with not even the slightest hiccup. During the 4 yr period, new belts and hoses, as well as upgrading to an oversized aluminum radiator $563.00 with high speed electric fan. . Gas has always been Chevron with fuel stabilizer added for the periods between driving. Runs and operates just like new. As if it were only yesterday instead of 4 yrs ago. One other point, the 1000 hours to convert, one of the most difficult was to transition the correct mph with a 6 spd, and a different rear end, tire size, let alone, reprogram the fuel injection, with the computer, and the oxygen sensors along with updated long tube headers, and all the parameters, necessary. The software engineer with Microsoft, (who recently was contracted by BMW, was entrusted with approx a dozen new BMW,s and to evaluate and upgrade and write the software necessary for programming the autonomous computer for BMW ) incidentally is a family member, along with other family members who all played a part from start to completion. Several convenience items: Headlights turn on automatically when dark, cruise control, power rack and pinion steering, power windows, seperate switch in engine bay, to turn on both overhead lights. Remote Starter Button: turn key as normal, then push a seperate hidden button (extra measure to prevent theft) After using a professional carrier and having it transported to SLC UT I took it to another car show, the first hint was the loopey idle as I pulled into the assigned space. At first people walked by, but when I opened the hood, word got around, other builders came by, and all commented on the quality of the build, no question was built by professionals, and when I mentioned I was selling the vehicle for $23,500 they all felt I was asking too little. I am 6' 2" and still have plenty of head room and actually have to pull the seat forward, for those that are concerned about fit. Important to note **** it does not have catalytic convertors. It should be registered and titled in those counties (that do not require emission inspections) however cats can be installed relatively easily and not that expensive. Has never been in an accident.
