Vehicle Detail
2001 Honda Insight - First Generation - automatic transmission - around 180,000 miles (might be slightly more; hybrid battery needs to be replaced so I can't power it up to precisely confirm). Clean Title, only two (2) owners. Hybrid battery needs to be replaced, but once that is done, everything should be in good condition. I have had this car since 2013, bought from the original owner. I maintained it very well with a Honda specialist during my time with the car. Service records are available that cover some key repairs: rear shocks (2013), new oil pan (expensive!) (2014), new gas cap (2014), engine mounts (2016), rear hatch actuator (2016) etc. Engine should be in good condition. Truly, this is a great car that simply needs a replacement hybrid battery (there is a great guy in Eagle Rock who specializes in Insights, I recommend him). The car passed smog in January 2017, but the IMA light came on for hybrid battery replacement. I drove it until May 2017, but then left for vacation for a week during which time the car sat unused. According to the Insight specialist, when your IMA light comes on, you don't necessarily need to replace it immediately as long as you drive it consistently to cycle the battery. However, not driving it for a week while on vacation meant the hybrid battery was no longer cycling, so it would not power on anymore and needed to be replaced. At that point, I decided to no longer drive it. Everything is in good condition though, for whomever wants to get a replacement battery.Exterior body is in great condition - there is only one small dent on the front hood when a loose mud flap from a truck slapped the front hood. Paint in good condition (the lustrous Monte Carlo Blue), but there is some clear-coat failure (typical) on the hood and roof.Interior is in fair condition - dashboard free of cracks and discoloration as it has been covered. Original cloth seat mesh in clean, un-torn condition (wonderfully breathable on hot summer days). AC working.Tires in good condition with some good tread.Upgraded speakers installed in 2015 (will let you have the cassette-to-aux adapter as a bonus).Good for collectors or people who like Honda Insights. The first generation insight is truly a historical car with a wonderful dashboard display that makes it a lot of fun to drive and maximize your gas mileage.
