Paste link into a browser window: [isdntekvideo] This is a triple matching numbers ,very nice, unrestored 1967 BMW R50 with 25k original miles that needs very little if anything to take across country. I was told by the previous owner it is a US bike. If thats so the production numbers are less than 200 machines. I have no way to verify this as it is not painted on the VIN tag. I do not know if they did that on the early examples. Im not sure when they officially became tagged as "US" bikes. It does not have the indicator in the headlight as many later "US" bikes did. Again, Im not sure what changes were made during the prodction run. I bought the bike a few months ago with an R69 project from a die hard BMW guy in Florida. I have no reason to doubt what he said about the bike being a US model, but I cannot verify. I reached out to BMW Mobile traditions and they could not tell me if it came with telescopic forks or when they began labeling the bikes "US" models. It was delivered to Butler and Smith in March of 1967 and came with a touring bench seat. Thats all they could tell me. If the new owner wants to put in the time to try and fully verify it is a US bike, you will have a rare machine. That being said I am selling this as a 1967 BMW 50. No model designation. It is either a /2 with a telescopic fork added at some point or a true R50US, but is 100% a 1967 BMW R50. The long time BMW guy I purchased the bike from put over 15k miles on this bike from Florida to Maine and all points in between over the last several years. The bike was freshened up just shy of 10k miles due to it sitting so long prior to that. I have some letters from the original owners son in law he purchased the bike from stating a shop in the Atlanta area rebuilt the motor at that time that can be included. In other words the body of the bike has 25k miles but the motor reportedly only has 15k. Either way its a low mile machine. The second owner, that I purchased it from did a few upgrades during his ownership. The main thing is it has been upgraded to 12 volts with a pentacom points plate. Much easier to live with and super simple to adjust the points , not to mention they are available at most any auto parts store. He also installed a new set of mufflers and added the wixom saddle bags. The bike starts and runs out well. The carbs could use a good dialing in as its a bit cold natured. I had no intention of selling this bike , but alas. it needs to go as Im out of room. The bike appears to be all original with the exception of the front fender. It is an older repaint. It is ready for its yearly service and I was going to let the new owner put in the fluids of his choice. The rear tire is new and has less than 50 miles on it but the front is showing its age.It needs a battery strap for the battery. I have adjusted the asking price of the bike to reflect this. Everything seems to work as it should and as best I can tell it really shouldnt need much if anything for years of trouble free service. Please look at the pictures closely as this is a used bike with blemishes and imperfections throughout as one would expect from an un-restored bike of this age. I believe the paint is original with the exception of the front fender and a few touch up spots on the frame. I do have the key for the tool box, but there is no tool kit. The wixom bags are nice and are wired in to the lighting system. The brake light is a LED style insert and the bar end signals do work perfectly. The bike is being sold as is, where is. I do have a clean Florida title (open) for the bike. A local inspection is recommended and welcomed. Please look at the pictures closely and ask any and all questions before bidding. I can be reached at 615-828-6642 if you would rather speak to someone. $500 non refundable deposit is immediately via Paypal. Full payment is due within 5 days via bank wire, cashiers check, or cash in person. No Paypal for remainder. The bike must be picked up within 3 weeks of the auctions end. Please have an idea of who you will use for shipping and the costs involved prior to bidding. Foreign bidders please contact me before bidding. 1967 TN motorcycle plate in some photos IS NOT included.
