Vehicle Detail

1966 Dodge Dart GT Convertible VIN: LP27B62593172 I’m often asked where we find these unique, original cars. A close friend cruises parking lots of local retirement homes, the Elks club, V.F.W halls and the back alleys of a well-known neighborhood here in Seattle with lots of retired Scandinavian fishermen. He can spot a seatbelt slammed in a car door a mile away… He even notices when a vehicle drives down the road with a turn signal left on just a little too long and he positively twitches with glee when passing a rig with metal bumpers, especially if it’s a convertible! If you’re in the market for a well-kept, vintage daily driver please give this nice Dart GT your kind attention. You’re also welcome to contact me with questions or to discuss a sale before the end of the Ebay listing. My name is Mark and I can be reached at 206/914-1173 (text is OK). CONDITION: The photos really tell the convertible’s story. It’s been here in western Washington state most all its life. A great new friend owned the car for the past decade. He’s suffering some medical problems and passed the Dart along to us a short time ago. After a good look-over and 20-minute drive it was pretty easy to tell the car’s always been pampered. I’ve never encountered a 60’s vintage ride with tighter, effortless steering; it snaps right back from a turn to drive down the road arrow straight and without any side-to-side brake pull. I take pride in the vehicles we offer here on Ebay and feel you should know as much about them as possible. I believe, with the exception of mechanical replacements, this classic is about as stock and original as one could possibly hope to find. Here’s what we know: The first question I’m always asked is about rust. Well, this vintage cruiser HATES rust and you’ll be very hard pressed to find anything here to worry about. Yes, the Puget Sound region gets its share of drizzle, but rarely any snow so our winter roads aren’t salted. One snowflake and everyone stays home. Besides, the car hasn’t seen a winter road in many years! Climb over, under and throughout, I know you’ll come up smiling. As a rust-preventative measure, the (retired mechanic shop) owner removed the entire interior and sealed all the floors, the interior of the rockers and even inside the fenders with POR-15 several years ago. One turn of the key and the strong 225 cubic-inch “Slant-Six” fires right up with just a few pumps of the gas pedal when cold. The three-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly, just like it should, with NO slippage. Several hundred miles ago the gas tank was removed, cleaned, resealed and a new sending unit installed. The carburetor was rebuilt. A new water pump and valve stem seals were added. Wanting to avoid any electrical issues, the headlamp and dimmer switches were replaced along with the ignition switch and door/trunk locks. All four wheels received new brakes including flex lines. After arriving at my warehouse, our mechanic added fresh NGK plugs along with a distributor cap, rotor and sparkplug wires. A new pinion seal was recently installed in the differential, so hopefully no nasty rear puddles on your garage floor. As my un-retouched photos show, the overall exterior is above average having had a respray sometime in the past to the factory original color. I don’t know how many years it’s been, but I’d grade it still at six out of ten. There are spots where dents were filled prior to paint, but time has shown they weren't covering rust. The power top opens and closes effortlessly operated by a dash switch and is in excellent condition. NO cracks or tears. Both top alignment pins find their bracket mounts effortlessly and the hold-down claps snap into place above the windshield with just light hand pressure. The zip-down plastic rear window is unclouded. All four solid steel wheels are wrapped with 90% remaining Toyo “Eclipse” all-season radials and wear their original “dog-dish” hubcaps. This Dart really is a blast to drive and absolutely turns heads everywhere you go. Everyone mentions their neighbor, aunt or older brother-in-law that drove one of these (or the Plymouth Valiant version) back in the day. Even young kids love it! Take another look at the interior pics. As a “GT” model there’s a floor shift center console and bucket seats. The upholstery was redone by a previous owner and I grade it at 7.5 out of 10. No wear-through spots, but a couple of well-sealed thread seam separations. All carpet front and back is fine. A more-accurate aftermarket dash temperature gauge was installed a decade ago. It’s hard to believe seat belts were considered an option back in 1966. For safety’s sake, a new vintage set were recently installed for the benefit of the next caretaker. Please feel free to call or text me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! You’re encouraged to stop by, inspect the Dart (or have a professional do it) and take it for a test drive as it's being “sold as-is, where-is” with a free & clear Washington State title. There are NO title brands for any nasty negatives like salvage history, theft or flood damage to cause you concern! Because of the amount of money involved with a vehicle purchase, I reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback. I also ask that potential bidders with a feedback rating of five or fewer transactions on Ebay contact me before placing their bids either through EBay’s message system or, as outlined above, call me at 206/914-1173. My name is MARK. You might also consider making an offer as many of my vehicles sell to smart “early birds” that contact me to work out a deal prior to the auction’s end. I always reserve the right to sell during this period. Many of my past buyers from as far away as Alaska, Arizona, the Midwest, Canada, Florida, New York and even the Mexican Baja have flown in here to Seattle and then started a road trip home the same day in their purchase. While I have every confidence the Dart could handle a long-distance drive, it’s 52 years old and has earned the right to do short sprints over a full-blown triathalon. Shipping usually equals (or is cheaper) when all the ancillary costs are added in – and no flat tires to deal with in the middle of nowhere either. As a respected Ebay seller with many satisfied online buyers, I want you to bid with confidence knowing that this convertible runs and drives out as it should AND that it is being properly represented to you! Please don’t be upset if I miss a minor flaw or some issue comes up on the car. NO used vehicle is ever perfect. A Few Additional Terms and Conditions: The entire purchase price is due by cash (in-person only), a wire transfer or other certified funds within seven days of the auction closing. I can accept credit/debit cards but will need to first send an invoice from our card processor and ask that the 3.5% fee charged by them be added. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends. If you do decide to have the Dart shipped home, there are numerous vehicle transport companies to choose from. We ship vehicles regularly and I'd suggest you get bids from the transporters listed here on the Ebay site by pressing the “Shipping” tab found above this description section. I do have a local company many of our buyers have used for delivery all over the country and I’d be happy to get a COD bid from them after the auction is completed. The zip code for pick-up is 98002 (Auburn, Washington). The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER. The car can be stored free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day.
