Vehicle Detail

96 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I'll add more pictures later, I just wanted to get the auction going because this thing has to be sold in a week. This Land Rover is a really great car. I’ve been so impressed with its quality that I’ve had an extremely hard time parting with it. Super comfortable to drive, amazing visibility, very nice luxury car feeling. I’m going to regret selling it, but I have to move for a job and have too many cars sitting in front of my house to just leave for a year. The BMW in the picture is also for sale no reserve. I’d always thought it wouldn’t be reliable, but it’s given me zero problems in the 11 years I’ve owned it besides just regular maintenance stuff, very minor fixes and a starter motor. It always starts, has never ever left me stranded or let me down in any way. I’m the second owner. The first owner was a wealthy woman with a water front house in Newport Beach California. She had a stack of receipts (no idea where these went…irrelevant now 11 years later) and the car never wanted for anything, and it lived inside a garage. It had two dents in the back (still there…I never fixed them) but was otherwise perfect. It has the ACE (active cornering enhancement) package, which is incredible. You throw it into a corner and a hydraulic piston on the front and rear axles push in the opposite direction so it actually leans into corners and handles freakishly well for something so tall. This was built when BMW owned them, and you can totally tell. I REALLY wanted one with the ACE package, and you might not know this but you do too. It also has third row seats which I've used once in 11 years. Over the past 11 years I’ve conditioned the leather at least once a year so the leather is nearly perfect. I wax it once a year so the paint is still as nice as it was when I got it 11 years ago (typical small imperfections, but super nice for its age). It gets a mobile 1 synthetic oil change every 3000 miles and I always run the expensive gas so the fuel injection system has given me no trouble at all. It has the best rated all season tires on it that tire rack had, which were firestones (usually the best ones are micheline...I'm a big believer in good tires). It needs nothing mechanically that I know of, but it does have a few quirks that I've not gotten around to: · The front bumper cover is basically glass…I bumped my other car and it sort of shattered. I’ve been looking for a new one, but I guess this is a common so they’re hard to find. · The two rear corner end caps have dents in them (there when I bought the car). I purchased two replacement end caps without dents that come with it, but they’re riveted onto the body and I’ve not figured out how to replace them. I’ve not tried super hard honestly. · There’s a weird intermittent problem with getting the shifter to shift out of Park into Drive. I read about it and it sounds like it’s the brake light switch that is failing. I bought a new one, just have not had time to crawl under the dash to swap it. · Last winter I had water coming in through the roof. I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from, so I used Sikaflex (black boat grade sealer) around all the roof seals. It doesn’t look great, but it doesn’t look awful. The leaks ruined the headliner, and got enough water into the carpet to get it to smell funny (still smells funny…a little mildew). The headliner needs to come out, and while it’s out the two sunroofs and side windows need to be re-sealed. If you look on YouTube it’s a pretty common problem and about a day’s work. There are companies that sell the headliner and seal kits. · If I was buying this car, I’d change all the fluids (front and rear differential, transfer case, radiator) and all the filters. If you google “disco mike’s 60,000 mile service” that’s pretty much the routine that it needs. I’ve not really driven it for the past several years and can’t really speak to when I did what last. · The AC probably needs a recharge. It usually needs it every two years, and it’s been about two years. · Strangely, I’ve never done the brakes on this car. It doesn’t need them now, but I have no idea why. I never googled discovery brake change intervals, it’s just never needed them which is incredible. · Come to think of it, the alternator and water pump are original on the car as well. They show no signs of needing to be changed, but I’d watch for it in the coming years and plan on them needing to be done. I will say that if you’re not relatively handy, this car is not for you. Stupid little things break that are super cheap and easy to fix if you’re willing to get on ebay and hunt down the part and replace it. The above mentioned water pump is a $40 part and like 5 bolts so easy and cheap to do on your own, but probably $300 - $400 if you have a mechanic do it. If you have to take this thing to a mechanic for every little thing, it’s going to get expensive very quickly. But if you’re willing to do the work yourself, it’s a very rewarding car. It’s super high quality, the kind of car that will last for many many more years if you’re willing to tinker. On Jun-05-18 at 15:33:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to include a picture of the car running to show that there are no warning lights (except the light saying I'm out of gas). The only mechanical issue that I'm aware of is the power steering fluid could be changed...I've been meaning to do it forever. It makes a little bit of a groaning sound when you turn because the fluid breaking down. Really all the fluids should be changed for good measure, except for the transmission fluid which I know I just replaced about six months ago with the expensive synthetic stuff. If you live a bit far away, I'd be confident of driving this thing home. If I had the time I'd offer free shipping and drive it to you, but I just don't have the time. But I wouldn't think twice about driving it to Florida tomorrow. Car is currently on Vashon Island, but I'm moving the car to Whidbey Island because my wife is staying with my parents in Clinton. The car will be in Clinton by the time the auction ends.
