Vehicle Detail

Vintage 1971Japanese Honda Motorcycle for Sale - Garage Stored for 35 years Was mis-listed as a 1970 CB500, turns out they didn't make them in 1970. Date of manufacture is 5/71 (see photo of VIN). Ebay did not like the listing, hey canned the listing, so here we are again... Originally listed for $1,275, price reduced by $300! 1971 Honda CB 500-E with 500cc engine Buy it now or make a reasonable offer. Lots of issues to fix, but overall this bike is not in bad shape. (We all know what 35 years can do to anything!) WHERE IS, AS IS Odometer shows 14,135.1 miles (see photo). No warranty as to accuracy of odometer, but that figure fits with overall condition of bike (see photos). This bike was found in a garage after 35 years of storage. No attempt to start the bike. In fairly good shape, but lots of pitting/corrosion/general degeneration as would be expected after 35 years of storage. Great source for parts if you're restoring one of these, or buy this one for a restoration project. NO IGNITION KEY (you can buy these aftermarket) NO KEY FOR GAS CAP (You can get one of these, too. Or buy a new/NOS/used gas cap and replace the whole piece). Check the photos for level of corrosion/pitting, etc. Buy it now or make an offer. BUYER IS 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING. Information from Wikipedia (saves the trip over there) WIKIPEDIAThe Honda CB500 Four was a motorcycle introduced by Honda early in the 1970s, appearing at the London Racing and Sporting Motorcycle Show in February, 1972.[2] It was similarly styled to the CB750, but smaller and lighter, with the manufacturer's claims of 50bhp output and a top speed of 115 mph.[2][1] Like the earlier CB750 it had a single front hydraulic disc brake, rear drum brake, electric starter, and sohc eight-valve engine. The four-into-four exhaust pipes echoed those of the CB750. Reviewing the 1972 show models, UK monthly magazine Motorcycle Mechanics described the CB500 as "one of the 'show stealers'. Four cylinders, in-line across the frame, four carburettors and single overhead camshaft motor, coupled to a five-speed gearbox give this 500 cc machine the performance of a 650 twin cylinder bike".[2] Unlike the earlier dry sump CB750, the smaller bike has a wet sump engine. Also, the primary drives were different, the CB750 having a duplex chain, while the CB500 had a "Hy-Vo" Morse chain. Several CB500 machines were entered in the Production TT races on the Isle of Man in the early 1970s. Bill Smith won the 1973 500 cc TT Production race (four laps) riding one, 8.2 seconds ahead of second place Stan Woods mounted on a Suzuki T500 two-stroke, twin.[3] I have a list of good, reputable shippers if you need help on this, but you are responsible for arranging and paying for shipping. I will help coordinate and make it easy for your shipper to pick up the bike and will store the bike for a reasonable time while you arrange pick up. Want to see more pics?
