For Sale is a Very Nice 1955 Chevy Step SideThis is a documented mid-west truck. This is a FUN to Drive exceptional condition truck, full of originality with some nice upgrades.Offering a late model Chevrolet V8 conversion, 4 bl. Quadrajet, 4 Speed, 12 bolt rear and other upgrades including a new wiring harness, new front and rear glass and moreSeveral local body shop owners have paid this truck many compliments as to the trucks overall condition. The fenders, doors and even the tailgate all appear to be OEM and original to the truck. This truck is ideal to fully restore, RAT/ HOT ROD / CUSTOMIZE or DRIVE AS IS, it is nice enough to go in any direction. The truck is fully primed. Any area of concern regarding metal work, minor metal imperfection, scratches, body panel and parts alignment has been addressed although buyer may see fit for additional work at buyers sole discretion. Bed floor should at some point be replaced as it was installed as a temporary floor. The intent with this truck was to make it a show quality truck that was to be enjoyed and driven. These trucks are very hard to find in this condition. It is by far the nicest I've owned. The truck is being sold, AS IS / WHERE IS as a running and driving project. I drive the vehicle often. The power brakes are an added plus. The mileage stated above is that which is shown on the odometer. I DO NOT guarantee the mileage to be correct (as posted) although I would like to think it is correct given the trucks condition. I have had lots of questions and unfortunately an error message reading "fatal error" goes directly to me email upon every message I have returned. I hope the following will address the questions. 1. Drivability: The truck does run and is drivable. And yes, you could drive it home but I would not recommend one do so if driving any real distance. I likewise recommend that the buyer obtain full coverage insurance on the truck prior to moving it. I currently have the truck insured for $25,000 through one of the nations classic vehicle insurance companies. I would not suggest insuring the truck for any less as one would be hard pressed to find another in this condition for any less. 2. Engine: I purchased the truck with the engine already installed. My limited research on the engine, mainly because I can not see the casting and other marking on the engine, I believe to be an 85-89 tuned port 350. When replacing the water pump just a while back, the water pump of a 327/350 was the pump that matched the one removed from the engine. The motor also appears to be a truck engine based on the "FSC" suffix on the front tab of the block. The motor starts right up, is very strong and has plenty of power. 3. Transmission: Again, I did not install the motor or transmission so I am not 100% sure what the transmission is. It is not a Muncie I do know. My plan was to put an M21/22 or a 5 speed in it out of an S10. Several has guessed at which transmission is in it but who knows for sure. It is a 4 Speed, shifts and drives fine for me at this time. 4. Rear: Again, I did not install the rear. It was installed prior to my purchase. My understanding was it to be 373 gears. It is a 12 bolt rear. 5. Cab Floor: I have found no bad spots in the floor. It appears to me that a rubber mat was likely the floor covering of the truck in its day with the typical condensation spots on the floor we've all seen but no holes or rot. 6. Cab Steps: They show normal wear but nothing that can not be corrected. Certainly no visible signs of holes or rot in my opinion. 7. Door Pillars: Again, I see no signs of any rot, not like I've seen on many 55-57's. 7. Body Panels: I can not see nor feel any welding within the fenders, front or rear. The rockers look to be original with no signs of rot looking outwardly from under the truck. The passenger side rear cab corner looks to have been replaced. The bed steps are in exceptional condition. Surely the truck, like all vehicles awaiting a new coat of paint, has a little skim coating of bondo to true the body up, as does this truck, but nothing I was concerned with as I like lazar straight. 8. Frame: The frame is in outstanding condition. To my knowledge there is no rot or rust holes that I have seen to this point. Cab mount brackets look to be in great condition. My plan was to do a frame off, sandblast the frame and POR15 it like I have done on other projects. I wish to clarify: The truck comes with a new hood seal as in rubber weather strip the goes across the hood cowl. And, yes, the hood is from a 57 it is not a 55 hood. It is sold with a 57 hood, and DOES NOT come with a 55 hood. My thoughts are as follows: Anyone who would be disappointed in this trucks overall condition as a starting point of a 55 to finish or drive is looking for something that is not out there. This is not the truck that has had $50,000 invested in it nor has every option been added along the way; air conditioning, air bag ride, etc.
