Vehicle Detail

This is the famous Toyota MR2 Spyder, highly sought after and prices are going up on these everywhere. Similar mileage cars are selling for $6000. This is an excellent buy for a great condition MR2. One important factor is the catalytic converters have been removed, so if your state still has emission testing, please do not bid. Florida does not have emissions testing, and these cars have a habit of the cats crumbling and damaging the engine so this is why I had them removed. Performance has been increased due to better engine breathing. The check engine light is on due to removing the cats. There is a spacer that can be put on the sensor in the exhaust to clear the light, I just haven't done it. The last time I had a clutch replaced, I also purchased a lightweight $400 flywheel and a JDM six speed tranny and had that all installed at the same time. So the tranny has about 60k less mileage on it than the car and engine. The highway cruising speed and drive ratio has been increased, it's a better performing car. Currently there is a little friction when shifting into 4th. Yet when downshifting into 4th, there is no friction. so a new clutch may be once again on the horizon. I recently had a shifter cable snap on me. Yes, on MR2's the shifter connects to the tranny via two cables and these things wear out and just snap! I had no control of the car and luckily just coasted off the road. Beware if you buy one of these Spyders, this is a known issue as they age. The great thing about buying this car is this major issue has been repaired with "NEW" cables, a $900 job parts and labor, I have the paperwork to prove it. Since replacing the cables the car shifts very well, but getting into reverse is a bit tight, I usually use two hands. The more I've been driving it, it has been getting easier to get into reverse. Drivers door was repainted by the prior owner due to a key scratch, rest of the car is original paint and in great shape. There are a few minor dings and scratches, but nothing major. It was garaged for a large part of it's life. Driver seat is worn so I installed similar style good quality seat covers. I upgraded the sound system with a nice JVC receiver and incredible Kicker speakers $450 total. Roadsters need good sound and this one has it. I also tracked down rare MR2 Spyder luggage, it was new when I purchased and they are in very clean condition. Three pieces that fit perfectly behind the seats in the storage area. Perfect for travel! PROS:Very clean body and Interior Six Speed Tranny Cats Removed Lightweight Flywheel Convertible Top in good shape (no leaks)Both shifter cables just replaced ($900 repair on MR2's) Kept in great maintenance with synthetic oils, and occasionally Slick 50 Engine & Tranny running very strong All 4 tires in great conditionJVC stereo with great Kicker speakers! Rare MR2 Spyder luggage included! CONS: 4th gear has a little friction when shifting Clunk in rear drivers side (shock, strut or bushing)Driver seat worn All in all a phenomenal driving experience, mid engine roadster with Toyota reliability. They are collectible and increasing in price. This could get a new drivers seat, and a little work and be a show car. The car is 18 years old and is in great condition. This was my daily driver until last week when I purchased a new car. Mileage may increase since I still drive on weekends. This car is and has been very very dependable. It's a Toyota.
