Up for sale is a 1996 Mercedes Benz SL500 Convertible running and driving but has some issues that will need to be addressed to make her an excellent vehicle that can be used for everyday driving. The new owner can also opt to use her for parts as the car in parts is worth more than its whole! Lets start with the basics: The car’s power train is excellent and the engine runs well and leaks nothing and the transmission shifts well for the most part, and on occasion goes into limp mode, which my mechanic detailed as a problem with the electric harness. All electrical components work as they should including the climate control, the AC may need a slight recharge as she blows luke cold, , and the suspension has been maintained and new parts were installed including the brakes which have been completely overhauled, with new brake pads, and calipers and rotors on all wheels. The tires have 50% tread life left. The exhaust and the running of the car at idle is exemplary of a fine Mercedes vehicle and when running the vehicle engages the road with stature and excellent handling. The body for the most part is dent free with little nicks and scratches here and there as detailed, and the black interior and appointments is in very good condition, as the passenger seat looks excellent but the driver seat has a few rips and abrasions on it. The Hard Top and soft top are in excellent condition and alone I have seen the hard tops sell on ebay for sometimes around $1000.00 or more. The former owner that had this fine automobile spent on the convertible mechanics over $2,000 on new pistons and seals for the mechanism, but at present she does not go down automatically but does go up and down manually. My mechanic has indicated that the Convertible Control Module and other harness issues could be the culprit or this malfunction but as of yet this is undetermined as the root cause and will require servicing. I bought this car as a project and have had her for around two years but because of the unreliability of the harness, I did not want to use this vehicle on a daily basis and feel it is best suited for a mechanic who can do this work and restore her to her original mechanical prowess as once restored this is a vehicle that will be amazing and originally sold for over $100,000 in 1996 Dollars. What’s worse is I bought this car from another party two years ago for $5,000 thinking I could tackle this restoration, but I have too many projects, and no space anymore for this fine vehicle, and I am offering this fine vehicle with a NO Reserve Auction and only a $100.00 Non Refundable deposit through Paypal after 24 Hours of the auction close and the balance due within three days.
