Vehicle Detail
This car(60779) is fairly rare one that was turned into a race car a very long time ago. It was originally sold by Fa. Autohaus Kraub in Nurnberg Germany. Only 270 Cabriolets were made in 1955. The car was ordered special paint Glaxxo 232-610 which I believe is a maroon color. The interior was Kunstl. beige. This cabriolet also came with one of the 26 1300 Super engines Porsche produced that year. It is possible that this is the only 1300 Super Cabriolet made in 1955. There certainly weren't many. This car would make a stunning restoration candidate. Unfortunately it has lost many of its original equipment parts so the restorer would need access to early Porsche 356 parts and the restoration would be a difficult one. However, it is unusual enough, as a pre-A Cabriolet 1300S special paint car, to consider as a restoration candidate possibly. Another possible use for this car would be as an outlaw in period race trim for use on the street and possibly for road rally driving events. The engine could be swapped for a street engine, the gearbox converted to street gears, and wiring and lights added. It would make a very cool outlaw. The obvious use for the car is racing. The car is very competitive in US SVRA and HSR vintage road racing. This car has every modification for top level US vintage road racing. Any driver can reach minimum weight and most will need ballast which comes with the car. The transmission is a close ratio Skirmants built unit with the preferred ZF differential. I have a second race trans with NOS ZF available at an additional charge. The engine(1622cc) has too many special parts to list. Nobody makes more power. Lap times are commensurate with the best 356 racers. You can't buy a faster or more unusual vintage race 356.
