Vehicle Detail

I’m pleased to offer an extremely rare LH drive 1951 Austin A40 Sports. It is the GD2 model with the floor 4 speed gear shift. The car was a joint venture with Jensen fabricating the bodies from aluminum and Austin using the A40 Devon Chassis. Wikipedia explains in detail this car: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_A40_Sports I purchased the car three years ago from the Central Valley of California where it hibernated in a barn since 1972. I joined the Austin Counties Car Club and a Yahoo Forum to assist me with the restoration: http://www.austincounties.org.uk/ https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Austin_Counties_Cars_News/info With the help of both organizations I believe I now have all the parts to complete the restoration. My health prevents me from further work on the car. The car sustained some damage in the early70s to the front. Body work to fix this area as well as stripping of paint from other parts of the car was started at that time. The steel frame is rust free (due to being a California car). The motor turns freely, and I had it running last fall after installing the rebuilt water pump.Research from the registry at the Yahoo group confirms this is a numbers matching car .Included with the car are: a set of BSF taps and dies, sockets and wrenches, owners and tuneup manual and California Blue Plate with 1973 decal.Trafficators are included with the car and are operating but have been removed from the body. Since acquiring the car I have done the following: Rebuilt all the brake wheel cylinders and master cylinder Installed correct SU carbs Had the radiator flushed and painted New hoses and thermostat Water pump rebuilt Head resurfaced and reinstalled with correct copper headgasket. Hardened valve seats, new valves and guides to accommodate unleaded fuel Fuel Tank removed and cleaned Generator rebuilt The car came to me with some extra parts from an A40 Devon the previous owner had. Also included are receipts for work I have had completed plus various other information that came with the car. I have a clear Idaho title to the car. I will assist with loading the car for transport to its new home. In response to several inquiries about my listing price:The opening bid request of $2000 doesn’t come close to my acquisition/transportation costs from California to Boise not to mention work I have done one car. My research indicates less that 300 cars remain from the original 3 year production run and the majority are GD3s (column shift) . The keeper of the registry for the Yahoo forum told me my car is the 17th one he has in his list. You never see these cars post for sale in any condition especially one that sat in a dry central California climate.Ebay is the easiest format to post cars for sale. On my side of the pond I can also utilize Hemmings, BAT and Barn Finds. On Apr-06-18 at 08:48:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Added two more pictures of parts "stash". Some are extras ,some are parts to complete the car. Radio is a vintage AM , bumpers are hiding in the pile but were re chromed in the early 70s however are beginning to pit from storage.
