Vehicle Detail

1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport XJ 4x4 4.0L 6cyl 5-Speed Manual Factory Options:Rear Chrysler 8.25" 29-spline axle shaftsReinforced front pull hooksOverhead console with compass + tempAir ConditioningPower WindowsPower LocksRemote Keyless EntryAM/FM/Cassette/CD PlayerTowing package (includes a UHaul Class 3 Receiver)I bought this Jeep Cherokee XJ in April 2016 (odometer was 114,000) from a PA dealer who bought it from another dealer when the original owner traded in the Jeep after moving back to DC from Colorado. So, if I'm remembering the Carfax correctly, then I'm the second driving-owner. It's in great shape and I've put a lot of time and money into it to make it even better. Oil & oil filter changes every 3,000 miles with 10w-30 synthetic blend. I've had upgrades and maintenance done, totaling $3,552 including: September 2017 $405.90• Throttle Position Sensor June 2017 $190.31• Rear Differential Oil and Service May 2017 $472.72Including:• O2 sensor $185• Turn signal relay $118• Computer scan diagnostic + labor + VA state inspection October 2016 $362• Battery Sears Gold Diehard $165• Four new Polk Audio stereo speakers from Crutchfield $197 September 2016 $290• Front bump stops August 2016 $1,768.88Including:• 4 new Goodyear Wrangler LT235/75R15 tires $768• Lifetime Wheel Balance $64• Road Hazard Warranty for the Wrangler tires $77• Upper control arm $226• SUV/Truck Alignment $110• Serpentine belt $120• Bushings $50 I have all the receipts. Other Upgrades• NOS Owner's Manual $10• All-weather heavy duty floor mats $60 Additional Work I'd Have Done:• Steering -- there's a small amount of play in the wheel. Maybe 1/8". I had the auto shop test drive it and they didn't seem to think there was an issue. They drove it a few times -- after each steering-related service above --and they never mentioned any steering wheel play to me. Since I was asking them specifically about it, they charged me some money to tighten some bolt, but all that did was make the wheel turn stiffer -- the small amount of play was still there. I drove the Jeep like this for over a year and a half -- and there was no increase in the play at the wheel. I recently talked to some other shops and they thought, based on my description, that replacing the steering box would get rid of any play. They thought that a missing tooth or worn gear in the steering box could be the source of the small amount of play in the wheel. Since it wasn't an issue for me, I didn't bother to replace the steering box. This Jeep tracks nicely down the road.
