Up for sale is a 1999 Mercedes Benz SL500 Project Car that has “Great Bones” But will need some other refinements to make it perfect. To begin with I acquired this car from a friend over a year ago knowing it needed some engine work and my original intention was to totally restore the vehicle. Since that I time I have acquired a later model Mercedes and there is no need to continue funding this restoration. I personally had installed an engine from a donor car in California that had only 47,000 mile son it and the engine accelerates and runs perfectly and leaks nothing. The body has around 124,940 on it. This work was done at a Mercedes Certified shop in Florida and I have the paper work on that too. While under my ownership and within the last 12 months The transmission was overhauled and a brand new transmission conductor plate was installed by a Certified Local Long Island New York Mercedes shop, so the power train runs and drives excellent. The Interior drivers seat needs to be reupholstered as the leather is cracking and ripped and the passenger side is slightly better with no rips or tears but needs a good detail to bring out its original luster and that is the same for the complete interior. All the electronics work perfectly, the glass is in excellent shape all around, and the car has a newly installed factory perfect Blaupunkt radio and the climate controls works perfectly and overall, the suspension and mechanics are excellent. A newly installed power steering pump was also put in less than 5,000 miles ago.Specifically, the body is in pretty good condition and since it is a sport it has HID Halogen lamps and a beefier suspension matched with nicer AMG Stock Rims and 50% were left tires. The body panels are very straight and the paint shines very well, the hood can use a clay bar and deep compound treatment, and the car has no rust on the underside or on the exterior. The front bumper needs attention as it was hit by a cement horizontal floor mounted parking stanchion when my friend parked the car and sustained multiple scratches and cracks. The Hard Top of this fine automobile is perfect and the soft top is next to new, but when investigated by the Mercedes Service Center, a major rebuild of all the systems hydraulics will need to be overhauled to make it work. The convertible top goes up and down manually but automatically it does not. This is an excellent running and driving vehicle of Classic Status and with a little work it can be perfect and is being offered here at NO Reserve and the highest bidder will win her and a $200.00 Non Refundable Deposit is due within 24 Hours must be paid within three days.
