Vehicle Detail

1974 440 motor S/N# U441215 and the frame is a 1974 250 S/N# 391586.Build details, specifications:· Wheels built from original Maico DID rims that were then powder coated black, used Buchannan Stainless steel spokes & nipples with new wheel bearings. · NEW inner tubes, rim locks and Michelin S12 rear and M12 front tires finished it off. · New vintage Maico handlebars / retro maico cross bar pad were used with NEW modern Magura dog-leg levers/throttle and NEW vintage surgical rubber gripsand a NEW likk switch.· All NEW control cables were installed. · NEW Mikuni VM 36 Round slide replaced the original Bing 54 and a K&N air filter. · NEW 14mm compression release was installed for easier starting.· NEW HPI electronic ignition was installed and makes starting much simpler.· NEW gold chain and sprockets were installed.· The frame and swing arm were powder coated metallic silverThere’s lots vintage go-fast parts including:· Wheel-Smith foot pegs and rear brake stay· KONI Poppy shocks yes (original rebuildable Poppy’s) .· NEW Circle (F) pipe with built in silencerThe build also includes: · A hand built chain tensioner due to the large distance between the counter sprocket and the swing arm pivot. · Several custom fabricated pieces & parts all went together nicely including the 76 plastic side panels and larger capacity 76 aluminum tank. · A NEW gold chain and sprockets were installed. · Factory number plates / numbers were added for the right retro look.· Every piece was disassembled, cleaned, painted or polished, and then reassembled. · All new bolting hardware was installed using primarily stainless steel washers, bolts and nyloc nuts. · THE FINE PRINT I purchased this bike on eBay about a month ago - I did not do the build, but can attest to the description given by seller. The bike does have a very minor oil leak from drain bolt and could possibly need a seal replaced on throttle side front fork. There was some fork oil at the slider/fork leg when I received the bike from transporter. There has been no evidence of oil leakage from the fork since, but I have not rode the bike. If you ever owned and raced Maico's in the 70's, and you either want one for the memories or to race again, this is a bike that you would be very happy with. It is the real thing and a true 'one of a kind' vintage race bike. And yes, the restored red tank is included with the purchase. No title, bill of sale provided upon request. Why am I selling is a question many are asking Mostly because I have too many bikes. Also moved across town into a new home 30 days ago and I am paying two mortgages until I get the old one sold. And I bought this bike only for my game room to go with other special bikes ( like the Suzuki that I built myself ) but my wife did a 360 on me and has said that there is not a chance in Hell that motorcycles are going inside of her new house and it isn't worth fighting over. And that's the whole truth. Kevin Also, I snugged up the drain bolt ( it was probably a little loose from sellers test run after the build ) and there is no oil leakage now
