Vehicle Detail
2001 Porsche 911 Carerra Last of the animated 911. I used the car as a weekend driver then got a GT3 and converted this to a track weapon for DE events. Car has never raced wheel to wheel but it has been enjoyed on PCA, HPDE and Hooked on driving track days. What started out as some simple modifications soon escalated in to $22,318.00 worth of mods as the world of high performance Porsche mods are prone to. The end result is a light weight 996 with as close to a GT3 RS undercarriage money can buy. GT3 sway bars 5 position, Tarrett drop links, D2 Coil over adjustable suspension. Undercarriage end result transformed a typical 996 that accepts 315 / 18 rear and 265/18 front. Safety modifications include a Roll bar, mono full containment seats with passenger and driver Halos, 6 point Harness. Weight reduction: removed interior with exception to dash board. Removed roof and replaced with carbon fiber roof, hood replaced with carbon / plastic light weight hood, rear and back side glass removed and replaced with Lexan. Performance modifications CAE short shifter, muffler delete. No engine mods as I wanted a car that was reliable and low maintenance. The car is a very low maintenance. Just take to Porsche dealer for fluid change and check up. Usually $348 a year tires are Toyo R888R they run around $1,600 a year. Engine is within 3&4% on blow by so with in factory specs. Motor was aledgidly rebuilt at 102,000 miles but I have no way of proving thisAC and heat are still active and work great. I can’t say enough good things about this car it has been reliable and no issues what so ever other than I spent to much on her converting it to a track focused performance car. These are the last of the animated Porsche with absolutely no driver assist other than anti lock breaks and power steering so with the fine tuned undercarriage you can 4 wheel drift her with ease and lay down some very competitive track times. I have bought a new 911 so this one must go to make garage space. She will be missed but will give a new lucky owner many years of great driving experiences. I have the mufflers that will come with car incase new owner wants to quiet her up all you have to do is remove the Fab Speed system and install the factory mufflers that add about 48 lbs to the rear. On Mar-25-18 at 07:42:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Many of you are asking same questions here are the answers yes it is road trip capable current registration tagged, you can fly in and drive the car home to any of the 48 states if needed. Would it comfortable no "No engine Mods" means no modifications to the engine in respect to aftermarket performance parts to increase HP. Of course it does not have the same expendable maintenance items such as filter, belts, clutch that it came with from factory. As far as IMS goes I was told it was changed out. Looking at the mileage I would say is proof it has or that is was not 1 of the 7% that had faulty IMS bearings. I don’t think you could find to many 996s out there that have not had IMS replacement As far as needs one of the trim strips that cover apilar to roof needs replacing cheap part. The front end could be allighned so that the red strip on steering wheel is centered. Quick Detach steering hub is a Renn Line
