Vehicle Detail
This is a no reserve auction!! Selling my 1979 Honda CBX The bike ran really strong, but had a fuel leak and I put a kit into the 6 carbs. Three choke butterfles do not open correctly with the choke linkage and will need repaired. I found old work that I am unable to repair. it is a project bike that needs a bit of finishing. Comes complete with what is in the pictures, but will ship with the air cleaner in a box. has to come off anyway. I believe it also needs the accelerator pump replaced. My loss is your gain. The bike is sold as is with no warranty and no returns. I will describe it as best I can with the faults I am aware of. The good:New alternator seal, shifter sealThe carbs have been rebuilt, comes with the extra o rings not replaced. New brake pads, new rear pad and rotorNew paintNew tires and tubes. New chain and sprocketNice Corbin seatNew cables where needed, New Honda NOS throttle cables The gauges all work, the tach is a little slow to respond. Drives really well, is very fast. Issues:The actual mileage is unknown. The speedometer was broken when I got the bike and I purchased the one that is on it through Ebay.I paid a lot for the paint, but I was somewhat disappointed in the finish quality. It has some minor flaws (like dust spots). The engine smokes a bit, mostly when cold and when at higher RPM. Not severe and once it is driven it is barely noticeable. The clutch makes the standard rattle and whine common to all CBXs, I bought the kit to fix it ($200) but did not attempt to install it. It comes with the bike. The exhaust is a aftermarket header, and I adapted a old muffler to it, sounds good and not too loud, but obviously is not original. Still needs some details here and there but a great starting point on a rare bike. Clean New Mexico title in my name. The bike is located at 87544, the shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. $500 deposit at auction end, balance by certified check or cash/MO. https://youtu.be/06govvxxgTg Running great at high RPM, but before I worked on the carbs it ran strong thru the whole rev range. Over my head with 6 carbs.
