Vehicle Detail

Selling my 1965 442. I've had this car since 1982, it's the real deal, correct "V" code on the data plate. It ran like the proverbial "scalded dog" back in the day, and I'm ready for someone with the time and resources to get it back on the road again. I'll give you the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good: it's all there. Original engine, correct"B" block and "A" heads; fairly well equipped with automatic/power steering/power brakes. I have the original wire spoke hubcaps (currently sits on set of early Super Stock II rims). I also have the original Quadra-jet, and a bunch of trim parts I've accumulated over the years. The bad: I let it sit for too long and the gas went bad and ruined the carb (I was running a Holley 600). That was 2004 - since then, it's been in a mix of inside and outside storage. One of the tank straps rusted through, so the tank is currently out of the car. The ugly: It was repainted before I purchased the car, and instead of doing it correctly they took some shortcuts. There was rust in the trunk pan, so they cut it out and replaced with a sheet of galvanized steel. There was rust in both rear quarter panels, but instead of addressing the problem they just filled them with bondo, and both are rusted through. The driver's floorpan has a small rust spot, but I believe the rest of the floor pan is solid. Overall, this is a solid, numbers-matching base for a good restoration. You can tell by looking at the other listings on Ebay what a restored first-generation 442 is worth on the market. I'd love to get it back on the road myself, but that's not in the cards for me right now, so I hope it finds a good home and the attention it deserves.
