I'm listing this 1955 RED MERCURY MONTCLAIR - I bought this vehicle 8 years ago from an older gentlemen who had it for over 25 years and was restoring it but never finished. All the chrome was re-chromed 25 years ago (when they did chrome right) and was wrapped up. All the interior was also done 25 years ago, wrapped up and put away. All the stainless was buffed out. The only things not re-chromed were the tail light assembly, door handles and trunk ornament. I have an extra tail light assembly set and other extras that go with the car. Chrome, stainless and interior is perfect other than those things. Chrome around side windows is original and in fair/good condition. The floors and trunk are like brand new. Engine was re-built 25 years ago. Radiator was replaced, as the original was no good. Power steering rack leaks a little oil. Brakes are working fine. Installed new gas tank. Car starts with 12V battery and has a conversion for a 6V for the rest of the car. Headlights, taillights, directionals and wipers all work. Runs and shifts out fine. This car was put together professionally. It is not a show car but a really nice driver. The car is 98% finished. I have many cars and I'm cutting down my collection. Some of the electrical, like the radio, does not work. Original rear fender skirts are there but need to be painted. Has a beautiful paint job done with PPG paint. With just a few small things to be done, this car could easily be worth $20,000, in my opinion. Car has been relisted as the reserve was not met. Price has been lowered to motivate sale. The car was registered years ago but never put on the road. Car does not have title, however, in RI you do not need title for vehicles over 10 years old.
