Adding almost 5 inches to the wheelbase gives rear seat passengers a limousine-like experience complete with fold-down writing desks, heated seats and climate controls. The Vanden Plas also has the distinctive fluted radiator grill surround and trunk handle trim. This most luxurious model in the Jaguar line was delivered new in July 2001 by Imperial Motors in Wilmette, IL on a two year lease. The original owner moved to California and turned the car in after which it was purchased at auction by famed Portland, OR dealership Monte Shelton Jaguar. Monte Shelton sold the car in October 2003 to its second owner. This owner retained the car until October 2012, up to 131,000 miles, when it was sold to a dealer in Portland. A noted vintage car collector based in Southern California purchased this Jaguar in December 2013 and sold it to me in February 2014. It was used as my everyday car from then until a few weeks ago when my new 2017 Alfa Romeo was delivered. This Jaguar has performed extremely well in town and on the highway, for 200+ mile round-trips to Los Angeles or throughout the Southwest. I am an enthusiast owner with a small collection of collector vehicles. The finish on the car is beautiful. The only notable issue is some small touched-up stone chips in the paint around the headlights. The bright trim on the car is in great condition as are the alloy-wheels which are free from scratches or curb-rash. All the glass in the car is original with the exception of the windshield which is a quality replacement. The car has a timeless style that is still fresh and elegant today. The inside is as elegant as the outside. The light beige-colored leather trimmed interior is in amazing shape. The exception is the driver's seat which shows considerable patina. Despite its appearance, the leather is still soft and supple as is the rest of the leather in the car. The seats are every bit as comfortable as you'd imagine. The wood trim on the dash, console, doors and writing desks are like new. The instrument panel is free of fading and cracks. Driving this car is an experience to be savored. It starts up easily and idles quietly. The transmission shifts smoothly and the car accelerates with authority. The steering feel is quite driver-focused for a larger car. For a more spirited driving experience, Sport-mode can be selected at the touch of a button. It quickens the shifting and tightens the steering response. The car stops as well as it goes with no vibration, pulling or drama. All the power accessories are completely functional, from ice-cold air conditioning, CD changer, sunroof, windows, locks, power-adjustable front seats, back-up sensors and remote locking. It is a vehicle in which I have complete confidence each time I drive it. This is a great opportunity to acquire a distinctive vehicle that has been well maintained and cared for since new.
