This 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 Grand touring has been in the family since 2009. It has a long history of maintenance and tasteful upgrades in the past 8 years. This Mazdaspeed currently has approximately 164k miles. This 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 is a rarer vehicle that was only produced from 2006 to 2007. There was less then 10k Mazdaspeed 6's ever produced. The production number on this vehicle is 4923. The Mazdaspeed 6 was made in Japan and actually shares very little with the Mazda 6's that were regularly built and sold in the U.S market. The Mazdaspeed 6 is a turbocharged 2.3L AWD that uses Active Torque Split to variable give up to 50% power to the rear wheels. Matched with a 6 speed manual gearbox and Limited slip -dif this produces one fantastic car to own and drive. The color Liquid platinum metallic was only available in the 2006 models. The paint is in good condition that buffs out well with no clear coat peeling. This Mazdaspeed 6 had a factory hood bra installed since its early life so the common Mazdaspeed hood bubbling / peeling has not been an issue for this vehicle. The overall exterior does reflects its age and mileage with the typical rear quarter corrosion that these vehicles were common for. However the corrosion has not spread dramatically that other models are subject too. Majority of the blemishes are not visible until close inspection. The wheels have been upgraded to factory rx-8 18" 8.5 with brand new Cooper I Move gen 2's less then 1k miles. It was also aligned at the same time and does not pull or shake. It is currently lowered 1.1"/.75" on RPM springs which gave the vehicle 20% stiffer spring rates. A set of K-Sport coils will be sold with the vehicle not installed. The rear swaybar endlinks were also upgraded to adjustable endlinks with heim joints from AWR Racing. Each wheel is stopping on Stoptech drilled and slotted rotors with RED STUFF pads that work perfectly with great performance with no pulsation in the pedal or noise. The Interior is black leather with some wear on the bolsters. The rear leather seats are in good shape other than the rip at the top of the center seat. All the interior bulbs have been replaced with LED equivalents. The shift knob has also been replaced with a weighted round knob that feels firm and complements the TWM stage 2 short throw kit with boot. An added touch that completes the cockpit is a manual boost gauge and pod that's been fitted into air duct that looks like a factory option. This factory turbocharged MZR direct injection 2.3L was gentleman agreement rated at 274bhp from the factory. This engine is still currently the most powerful piston engine Mazda has ever produced for the consumer market. This vehicle has had a few upgrades that include the following JBR thermal intake manifold gasket, replaced some injectors and all injector seals. Feeding those injectors is Autotech fuel pump internals achieving 50% higher flow rate then stock. A Full 2.5" Sure intake with Corksport intake shield helps pull in fresh air. At the same time the intercooler pipe couplings were upgraded to Sure. It also has a Forge V2 BPV which produces a grunty tone that isn't overwhelming or annoying. A Corksport test pipe has been installed but still retains primary catalytic converter. Management system being used is the Cobb AP V2 that runs flawlessly with no Check Engine light and has optional tunes available. Other upgrades include JBR rear engine mount, Optima red top battery and a JBR EGR delete (not installed) Vehicle comes with all factory parts if buyer is interested in bring vehicle back to OEM spec. Mechanically this car is sound and is a blast to drive. This is the unknown 3rd contender in the ring if you're considering a STI or EVO but not the price tag. With Current power outputs bumped up to approximately 350bhp makes it a great sleeper. Yet tamed enough for the everyday to run errands or go to the grocery store just as you would normally. It doesn't drive uncomfortably stiff and still retains all of its factory options makes this a great cruiser. If you're looking for either a weekend warrior or a double duty daily driver this car would suit your needs. You'll be hard pressed to find another Mazdaspeed 6 on the market listed within this price never mind one that has been tastefully modded and properly maintained that is turnkey GO!
