Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my 1970 Bonnie, arguably the best year for this iconic model. Numbers match. good transferable NYS registration (title equivalent for pre-1973 vehicles in NYS). I purchased this as an ugly "custom" back in 1990 (see pic of pic for a good chuckle...) and over the next couple years collected parts to mostly bring it back to stock. I didn't "restore" it to any high standard, just wanted to have a rider that looked like a proper 1970 should. I painted it myself way back then - came out pretty good at the time although has accumulated a variety of dings and is bubbling around the filler neck. It's a good 20 foot bike, not a show piece but has been on the road many times over the last few years for an occasional short jaunt. Maybe have put 1000 miles on it since I've had it. Mostly done up as stock (ish), with some minor deviations...silicon rectifieradded T25T oil filterbeefed up some of the positive grounds for better reliability. The astute Triumph enthusiast may well notice other deviations from factory configuration. Good for you. I don't really care, making it "perfect" wasn't the point of the bike. Here's the issues list...Japan K70 tires have plenty of tread but are old and dry rottedtrip odometer works but regular one doesn't. I have no idea of the actual mileage on the bike. There were no gauges on it when purchased.I've never had the engine apart. I don't know if it ever has been. But seems to run pretty well.Carbs are all original, never been sleeved or anythingWas riding around a bit today, at selective rpm somewhere between 3500-4000 depending on load would get a rattle, sounded like pushrod clatter. Would go away just by changing load on engine. I'll check the valve adjustments if I get the chance. Not an issue really, still has points. Generally a 1 or 2 kick starter.A variety of cosmetic issues. Wheel chrome is very good, headlight and pipes, kinda meh... Dent in one of the down pipes.Front end vibration when front brake is applied. Something is probably a bit out of round...I had to take apart one of the Clear Hooters to get it to work. Used screws rather than rivets to put it back together. But they both work.has a variety of leaks like any proper old Triumph should...original seat cover and foam, some flaws.Other than that... It's a nice bike for a classic rider, or an excellent candidate for a proper full up restoration as it's solid and all the important stuff is there. I will be at mid-Ohio VMD in July and can bring it there for the buyer if desired. Otherwise, pickup/shipping is up to the buyer. I'll make myself available as needed for shippers but don't want to get involved crating or anything like that. $500 deposit required by Paypal within 24 hours of auction end. Remainder must be paid in cash or certified bank check. Feel free to ask any questions, I'll tell you what I know!
