1964 Bridgestone 50cc Step Thru Scooter "The Homer"~Runs & Rides 1964 Bridgestone 50cc Step Thru Scooter "The Homer"~Runs & RidesHere is a pretty rare 1964 Bridgestone Homer that I've had for about the last 20 years. Pretty good condition for an over 50 year old scooter too. Put 2 new tires on it when I got it. I used to ride it around all the time for about 15 summers. Lots of bikers here in this part of the country, and when they would see me on this thing I thought they were gonna laugh at me or beat my a** but it was all thumbs up, all the time! It's been sitting for about 5 years, but last year I gassed it up and rode it around the countryside a little. Ran pretty good too. Original petcock was leaking so I replaced it with a straight fitting and a piece of hose.(I saved the original parts.) Still leaked so I gave up. Too many projects and not enough time. The bike runs and rides nice, but it has some problems any 50+ year old mechanical piece would have. The kick starter has been gone since I got the bike. I just push started it from 1st or 2nd gear and jumped on when she caught. Bike is all there but will need to be restored if you want it to be pristine. Speedo broke while I owned it. The little cast white metal piece that helps drive the cable down by the front wheel disintegrated. Carb may need a rebuild or adjustment. Kind of sputtery at high speed(high speed...ha!) Fan cover is missing a few louvres. Lots of nickel dime stuff, but not nearly as much as you would expect on an old chestnut like this. Look at the pics. I think it's a pretty good start for a '64. Comes with its original owners manual and has a CLEAR TITLE! Really fun piece of history and just as fun to ride now as I'm sure it was when it first came out. Pick up only. Good luck!
