I am relocating internationally for work so have to sell my beautiful '79 450 SL. I am only the 3rd owner and she's done just over 103k miles (being driven daily so increasing slightly). Here's a list of the good and not-so-good points: Exterior chrome is flawless - this trim parts are difficult to find and super expensive, so this is a huge plusInterior is very, very good, totally original apart from the stereoAC/climate control works - blows hot when it should and cold AC when it should (pretty rare!!)Comes with 4 additional brand-new unused tires, and a rolling hardtop standHardtop is in excellent condition, and particularly flawless on the insideSoft top exterior is excellent and plastic window is clear and unmarkedEuro-spec headlights, otherwise totally originalPaint on quarter panels, hardtop, and doors is goodNo underside rust (WA state only car - no salt used on our roads)Runs very well - I have used as a daily driver for last 2 months with absolutely no issuesI have spent over $3,500 in the last 7 months - here's the details:New fuel injectors and sealsnew valve cover gasketsVarious new breather hoses for vacuum systemRadiator flush and cleanNew thermostatNew fuel filter, fuel accumulator, fuel pump check valvenew water temp sendervarious new bolts for convertible framebrake fluid flushed and replacedDifferential fluid serviceall new drive and secondary beltsnew bulbs all roundnew hardtop seals, and new drivers A-pillar seal (passenger A-pillar seal included)Not-so good:cruise control does not workcentral locking does not workright turn flasher flashes fast (but works fine)Paint on hood is faded and has some "whirls" - may polish outA few (less than 5) bubbles and pain blemishes here and thereScratches behind soft top cover lid - see picturesTrunk lid has been replaced at some point and does not 100% match - ok from 10+ feetInside of soft-top is showing it's age. Works fine and is waterproof but just looks a little "tatty"Overall this is a great car - has always been 100% reliable for me. With the excellent interior and chrome work, reliable and strong engine it has really good "bones". I had planned a respray, which would make the car at least a 9/10, but leaving the country has messed up that plan. My loss is your gain...feel free to shoot any questions over. NO RESERVE!!
