1975 Triumph Trident

I purchased this all original matching numbers Trident from an elderly man in New Jersey. He told me that it was previously his friends bike who gave it to him in 2001 shortly before he died of cancer. He rode it sparingly for a few years putting perhaps a thousand miles on it, and as he got older he stopped riding about five years ago and parked it in his garage. Unfortunately he did not drain the gas out of the bike. The bike is not currently running. There is a layer of varnish in the tank that will need to be addressed and the carbs will need to be cleaned. the engine is free and feels as if it has good compression. Brake calipers are not locked and the transmission clicks into gear. The clutch engages and disengages. There is some minor pitting on the right silencer,some minor scratches on the front fender, minor pitting on the header pipe and a small ding and scratches on the fuel tank. The center stand has some rust and I think the side stand may be bent. If placed on it the bike leans over extremely far. While listing this motorcycle I noticed that the New Jersey Title Identification number did not match the VIN stamps on the frame and engine. I have adde a photo of the tile and will try to find out what that number means.The previous owner told me that was the title he recieved when he transfered ownership. This bike is being auctioned to the highest bidder with no reserve. It is not for sale anywhere else and I will not end the auction early. The bike has a clean and clear NJ title. New Jersey can not process an older VIN in it's current form anymore. They list the manufacturer TRI for Triumph,, take the serial number that is on the frame and engine 02561 and include the year of manufacture 1975 to come up with the number listed on the title TRI025611975. I did not transfer title into my name so as not to add another previous owner to the bikes history. I will gladly do that at the winning bidders request. I will also provide winning bidder with a notarized bill of sale if requested. I apologize for any confusion my ignorance may have caused.
