Vehicle Detail
General – Hi there, here is one that I bought as a keeper and then priorities shifted, so I want to pass it along to someone who will enjoy it. It is a 1962 Ford F-100 Shortbox, one of the most sought after of the 1950s – 1960s. The best part about this one is it can be driven from the day you take possession. Advertise your business, club, race team, cause or whatever. It is a survivor and everywhere I go people want to stop me and talk about it. The truck has a clear Montana title, still has its original VIN plate and the numbers match. It is currently registered, insured, driven and the Montana taxes are paid through December 2017. I purchased the truck from a retired Air Force Full Colonel who purchased it over twenty years ago in New Mexico. His stickers are still in the windows which has elevated my rank and status. Body and exterior - The truck has an amazingly solid body inside and out. The only rust I have found is on the leading edges of the rear fenders under the little running boards and under the bumper at the trailing edges of the rear fenders. Both are out of sight, however I wanted to disclose that. The rear bumper is pushed in a little on the passenger’s side, which in turn put a wrinkle in the right rear fender (see pictures) While doing some cab work and replacing the floormat and seat I discovered an earlier floor patch which I improved on and further sealed. Obviously, this old truck saw very little rough farm, ranch or construction use. For its 55 years, it has almost no dents or dings or welds or that sort of thing. It is a repaint back to the original color and has only a few blemishes. All the glass is in excellent condition. There are two very and nice serviceable back in the day “west coast mirrors”, (see pictures). Both doors open and close properly, and the hinges are not broken and do not sag. Those little short running boards which are usually beat up or badly rusted on these old trucks, are in surprisingly good condition. The tires on the truck are OK; however, I have a nice newer set which I will install before shipping the truck. The box header, side rails and tailgate are in very nice condition. The wooden floor is deteriorated and under a piece of plywood. All the metal rails and enough of the original wood are still present to serve as a pattern should you want to go to the extent of replacing it. By the way my old army footlocker does not go with the truck. Mechanical - The 223 CID, six-cylinder engine is the original and was rebuilt in 2001 to the sum of over $2,500 with 2001 money. Those receipts will accompany the truck, along with some other historical records. . The engine starts right up and has 60 pounds of oil pressure. The manual choke works just as it should. The clutch and differential seem in good shape. The fuel pump and carburetor function properly. The truck was always a 12-volt system and charges just fine. Interior – Amazingly complete, and handsome (see pictures)! The seat was deteriorated so I had it not only recovered, but rebuilt also. I also replaced the original floor mat with a new one from MAC’s, added new seatbelts, did some clean up and spot painting. The heater is present as well as the controls, (see pictures) and the blower motor works just fine as does the defroster. All gages function properly and all lights work to include the dome light. It has no Radio and the good part of that is, no one has cut the dash or doors to install a sound system and speakers Summary – This little truck is an excellent example of originality and is very complete to include its garnish, trim, interior, gages etc. It is not a show truck but you can sure put it in shows. Payment, Disclaimers, Storage, and Transportation - I require a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours and the remainder prior to me sending you the title. I prefer bank to bank transfer or cash in person. Please only the initial $500 by PayPal, because of their surcharge, unless you are willing to pay that fee. Well I have tried to represent the old truck as honestly and accurately as I can. Please read my narrative; please look closely at the pictures. The truck is sold as is, where is, and with no guarantee or warrantee implied or specified. I am very proud of my 100% rating and will answer questions. I will post some of them so that others may benefit. If you have less than 10 bid history please contact me so I can be sure of your sincerity or I will cancel your bid Good luck with your bidding and thank you for your time spent in reading my listing.
