Scroll down to view over 100 photos! The starting price is only $1 and the reserve is very low, just a little something to give me peace of mind that I won't completely give it away. For sale is a fairly rare 1996 Saab 900 SE Turbo hatchback in the coveted 3 door configuration and with the even more highly-coveted manual 5-speed transmission. It has the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine and gets over 20mpg, at least if you believe the on board computer. If you read this ad thoroughly and have realistic expectations for this 20+ year old car, I don’t see how you would possibly be unhappy with it. My goal is for you to not be faced with any surprises when you see and drive the car. Please do me the great kindness of not bidding if you are not 100% certain you want the car. Very kindly ask your wife first if she’s okay with you buying it, or if you’re getting it for your child make sure they actually want it, or check what the shipping cost will be beforehand if you need it transported, and so on. I am a Saab enthusiast; I have had 5 myself and there are/have been more in my family. This is “one of the good ones” for sure. This car is over 20 years old, and it probably shows its age solely because the paint is a bit faded and the front seats are dry-rotted, but where it stands out is how amazingly rust free it is, how superbly it runs and drives, and how clean, complete, and functional it is. It has been very well-sorted. I take pride in my cars and I don’t like when things are broken, cracked, missing, or in general less-than-perfect. That said, I don’t have unlimited time or money, so it’s not 100% where I would dream it would be, but it’s pretty close. Despite its minor flaws, I believe it’s all around in the top 10% tile of NG900s out there. The Good: -Meticulously maintained -Incredibly rust free inside and out, top and bottom; it is nearly beyond belief but study the pictures below and they should speak for themselves -No check engine light or other warning lights or messages of any kind -Doesn’t leak a single drop of any fluid whatsoever -Takes on no water in the rain; almost all these cars leak and this one did at one time but the usual areas have been resealed and it therefore shouldn’t be giving you any trouble again for years -Every single thing on the whole car works with the exception of only the seat heater, which is probably just a broken wire under the upholstery (common); the power mirrors, power sunroof, power windows, power seats, rear hatch wiper, everything, even the cruise control, it all works and works well -The A/C works, too, but could use a recharge to be 100% -The headliner is brand new and other than the front seat upholstery, the interior is in good condition -No dead pixels on the on board computer -Transmission shifts beautifully; no hard-to-find gears, doesn’t pop out of gears, no grinding that I ever noticed, I don’t know the history of the clutch but it appears to be operating at full strength near as I can tell -Clutch cable tube has been updated to the far superior manually-adjusted variety -A high-performance aftermarket air cleaner has been installed for better mileage and more power -Engine pulls very well and operates beautifully; no strange noises, hard starts, or any cause for alarm at all -I drive like an old lady; this car has probably never been over 3500 RPM since I’ve owned it -Includes the very desirable Klingon wheels (they are factory Saab wheels, but somewhat rare and very sought after); also included are the car’s original wheels (center caps are missing, however) -Has a cool aftermarket head unit with back up camera and smart phone connectibility (it came with the car and I don't know much about how to use it!) -Parking brake holds -A lot of essentially brand new parts, all of which are OEM or quality aftermarket such as Bosch, including: -Brakes on all four corners -Coolant expansion tank and fluid level sensor -Thermostat and o-ring -Front oxygen sensor -All radiator hoses, and recent flush of coolant -Rear hatch struts -I’m told the tires were installed just last year The Bad: -The front seats are badly dry-rotted (I’ve been saying they are alligator skin haha) -A second pair of front seats are included, which I bought to have reupholstered but haven’t got to it yet -A couple stone chips in the windshield (you can have a new one installed surprisingly cheap) -The paint definitely shows its age with overall fading and haziness and your typical scuffs and stone chips, but no flaking clearcoat, only a couple deep scratches which are on the bumpers, and no dents; some quality time with an orbital polisher will yeild a very large improvement -The plastic lens on the rear hatch is cracked down the middle -I feel I have to say something negative about how the car runs and drives or you will distrust me, so I guess I’ll mention that the car seems to ride a little stiff to me; with it being sort of a sporty car, maybe it was always this way, but a new set of shocks might help I really adore this car, and searched a long time for it when I bought it. But my wife doesn’t drive stick and I have to face the realization that this can be problematic, since there’s no back-up car for her to drive if her car is unavailable for whatever reason. A real my-loss-is-your-gain scenario. I can’t guarantee that this or any other car will survive a long trip, but I can say that I would drive it anywhere without hesitation and fully expect to be just fine. This car is my daily driver and it has never let me down.Clean and clear Ohio title in my name. The car is sold completely as-is and where-is. There is no warranty or guarantee expressed or implied. Buyer is to arrange and pay for any transportation of the vehicle or spare parts (two front seats and four spare wheels and tires). Deposit of $500 is due via Paypal within 48 hours of the auction’s end. Remaining balance is due within 7 days of the auction’s end via money order or cash. I expect the car to be removed from my premises within 7 days of the auction’s end. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time or for any reason. I’m happy to answer any questions to the best of my abilities. If you ask a question I already answered here in this ad, I will probably ignore you, not out of any sort of spite but because if you haven’t read this ad in detail then you should not be bidding on the car.Thank you for looking and good luck!
