Regrettably selling my 1983 Honda shadow vt500c. I have just too many projects. This is a great bike for the beginner, or even the serious rider looking for a solid commuting bike with a lot of potential and close to 60mpg’s. The bike is in great shape for being 33 years old-it has 9,200 original miles on the clock and needs very little before being truly road worthy. In the time that I owned it I changed the rear-end oil (it’s a shaft drive bike-very lo maintenance), changed the engine oil and filter, flushed and replaced all the old coolant, cleaned the air filter, drained the old gas out of the tank-cleaned the tank and refilled with premium and sta-bil, took apart and deep-cleaned the twin kei-hin CV carbs and changed all the spark plugs. Also cleaned and lubed the speedo cable. The wires still give a good, strong blue spark. The tires are in good shape, but the front tire could stand to be replaced after a season or so of riding. The front fork seals weep a bit, and could use a replacement down the line. The color of the bike is a light red bordering on purple, and the tank shows some spots where it may have been repaired. I have created a video to accompany this ad, and it shows those spots in detail (again, nothing structural just visual). There is a little rust hole in the right tailpipe, which lets a little exhaust through- this can likely be easily repaired. There is also a small ding in the front fender. Other than those issues (again, it’s a 34 year old motorcycle) it needs a left blinker bulb (I have these) and should have the carbs synchronized. At this point all it needs is a good home! Comes with a clymer manual and brake pads, with an extra seat. Pricing it to sell.
