Vehicle Detail

I have owned this car since 2008. It had 44603 miles on it then. It has never let me down. I drive this car 3 seasons a year. When the snow flies and there is salt on the streets I put it away. If the roads are clean I do drive it on New Years Day. The pictures a arranged so that you see an overall view of an area, then the flaws on that area. I have tried to really give you a good idea of the car. Except for the rear end it is a stock drive train. I upgraded the rear end with one out of a 52 that had a powerglide transmission. It is geared higher and allows you to go 65mph all day long, even 70 for short distance.(passing) This is a great improvement. It will need a axel seal replaced on the left side. It runs great, stops straight, and shifts smoothly. It has no oil filter, that was an option then, and not ordered. I changed it every 3000 miles. 250 miles on a recent tune up. Cooling system works well. I always wanted to add a fan shroud, but never did. It is not stock ,but it would be an improvement. Electrics are 6 volt. Charging system works well. 1year old battery. All lights work except the left headlight. It went out on this New years Day drive. I added turn signals, also an option in 52. Brake shoes relined, cylinders rebuilt, and exhaust when I bought it. I painted it stock colors the 2nd year I had it. It is a base and clear coat. It was a simple mask and paint, not a complete tear down job. New rocker panels were installed then. There are a few spots of rust starting to pop through in a couple of places and some slight bubbling on one of the left side doors. Body filler was used when needed. There is a little paint flaking on both ends of the rear bumper filler. The license plate light is original paint, and it works. All stainless is in good shape. Front bumper and grill also rear bumper were rechromed 11 years ago. A 1 inch by 3 inch piece of the plating has came off the front bumper. It happened this year and there is no rust there. The bottom louver of the grill has some pitting. SOS will shine it right up. Stock for 52 dog dish hub caps with nice custom painted rims. Not the original color. Tires are good. Color matched fender skirts. The chrome wore off the anenna and revealed that it is made of copper, when I take it to a show I shine it up with SOS and it is a one of a kind. very unique, and I have never seen another one like it. I would still give the car a strong 6 to a 7 on close inspection, and the pictures speak for themselves at 10 to 20 feet. Trunk is clean and solid with the original mat. The rust stains are from a vintage tool box that I kept in there. It is only on the mat, not on the metal. Original spare tire with jack also. The trunk seal is hard and should be replaced. The tire has never been used, and still has the nubs present. Also it is the stock color and pin stripping on it. It is the light green with 2 black pin stripes. Underneath has scaly rust and road grime as u would expect from a 65 year old driver. Floors are solid with original coating still present. There is a small quarter size rust through on the rider side front at the very outside edge. It was there when I bought it and has not got any bigger. The front body mounts show some rust (see pics) but are still strong. I tapped all around them with a hammer to check and they are still strong. It is caused by the bad door seals. Interior is original except the carpet. Stains on the front door panels from bad door seals. Seals will be included. Driver side windless needs replaced. Front seat back has a 12 inch tear on the driver side. That is why there is a blanket over it. It hasn't got any bigger The top of the back seat has a large tear due to sun rot. You are not in contact with it when you sit in the seat. Both seats are very comfortable. Headliner is nice, small hole about the size of a dime on the right side. Venetian blinds in the rear window. Steering wheel is nice with a flip away knob. The clock is a wind up and keeps good time. The gas gauge has a ground issue, it pegs out to full as soon as you turn on the key. I kept a 2 gl. can strapped to the spare in the trunk, and kept track of the mileage. The radio needs a vibrator , it was working and the speaker sounds good. All other gauges work and interior lights work. There are small cracks around the front driver's side vent window. This is a common and it still works fine. All other glass is good. Front windshield seal needs replaced. Seal comes with the car. Lots of nice paper work including the original work order, owners manual, and service manual. I have maxed out the number of pictures that I can post, but if you message me I can send 5 more with my response. There are also a number of extra parts that come with it. A new gas tank, complete set of motor gaskets, and a box of assorted other small odds and ends that I have picked up over the years. You never know when you will need something replaced. NAPA has a lot of different parts, and I have not had a problem getting anything I needed. As you look at the pictures you may wonder why I have repaired certain defects and not repaired others. I am a firm believer in the idea of a car is original only once, and when that is done away with it can never be that again. To sum it up; This is a very nice driver class car that will get you proudly where you want to go. It may not be very fast at it, but you don't have to be fast when you're cool. The buyer us responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs. I will assist in loading or driving it to a local shipper. The different items you see inside the car do not come with it.
