Vehicle Detail
CAR IS BEING RELISTED DUE TO FLAKE BUYER WHO DIDNT HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY THE CAR. I WILL NOT END THE AUCTION UNTIL CAR IS PAID FOR. I'M SICK OF GYPSIES AND FLAKES. I PRICED THE CAR LOW ENOUGH FOR DEALERS TO EVEN RESELL IT. YOU DEAL WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC, I CAN'T. Up for auction is my 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL finished in its' original coat of Pearl Gray Metallic with gray leather interior. This is a car that spent most of it's life in the South, away from coastal salt and extreme heat. The car has been garaged kept since day 1 and candidly, I don't think this car has ever seen rain! The seats have had covers on them since the car was new. You'd be hard pressed to be able to discern them from new. Bolster wear is non existent. The dash and rugs are in mint condition as well. The burlwood veneers are PERFECT. This is a very well sorted out car that is very original and highly documented. It is documented not only by CARFAX and Autocheck, but with service records, maintenance log, and ownership history. I've owned over 50 560SL's (yes, I have a problem) and this is the nicest driving one I have ever owned. A few typical questions I will try and answer. The paint is all original. It gauges out between 3 and 3.5 mils of paint thickness everywhere. There is no clearcoat peeling. The A/C and HVAC work great. A slight squeak from the blower motor occasionally on start up, but it all works fine. I've posted the Autocheck, CARFAX and service records for you to see. The car has no rust. Yep, jacking points are perfect. The good part about a 88 vs 87 is that the vin # is on a sticker on every body panel, as well as the core support. Any body panel replacement is very clear. OEM replacement parts say R-Dot on that sticker. Even the bumpers have vin stickers. Safety, 88's have a much better SRS system than the earlier cars. No trades, car is up for auction and will remain a no reserve auction unless I sell it locally through some of the forums and other online classifeds. Feel free to call me at anytime about the car. While I don't consider myself to be an expert, I have owned 53 of these, and I know enough. This car sells itself. Sorry I am a poor photographer and not the best videographer. I can assist in shipping as that as what I do for a living. I am a collector and not a dealer.
