Vehicle Detail
This 2002 Honda Insight may not be exciting to look at considering the cosmetic damage up front following a minor collision. However, we had driven it continually after that, although not too much in the last six months. Still, this car has no engine problems, no leaks, no trouble starting up. It does have an issue with the gear shifter where it doesn't want to move. So it CAN start but you have to push and hold the gear shifter into park and it seems really tough to get into any other gear. I don't know why.The options are pretty basic - two-seater with new stereo, cruise control, rear defogger, wiper for the hatch, rear storage compartment and so forth. This particular version has the famous "S" and "D" buttons, which help the vehicle further improve fuel efficiency or acceleration. The heat and A/C work fine. Both the transmission and IMA battery were replaced a few years ago, according to the previous owner. Also new shocks, brakes, rotors, tires and within the last year or so. The stereo is also new and the vehicle is wired for bluetooth phone control. The IMA battery works perfectly. No question about the value of this car - it's not in the options or in the looks. It's the ability to get nearly 500 miles out of one 10.6-gallon tank. That tank costs me about $19 to fill up. The current tank is averaging 46.7 miles per gallon.Aside from the looks, the car is in strong shape. It's not perfect - it's a used car. There are some minor issues like the molding in the interior being loose for instance. But it starts up with no issues - no leaks, no rust, no rips, etc. It does have that front-end damage but that's pretty much cosmetic. It also needs the headlights replaced and I have the lights. Before the damage, I had received several offers in the 5k range. Considering the new issue with the gear shifter, I'm happy to just move on from it and let someone who knows what they're doing have it. You will need to pick up this car in person and you may need to have it towed.
