But until then, Chevrolet was determined to keep America's Sports Car fresh and current. That was achieved with a body update for the '61 model run. This included a new back end that foreshadowed the 2nd generation Corvette that was due to be introduced in '63 and a cleaner front grille that was missing its teeth from previous years. The result ended up being a perfect contrast of old and new that seamlessly blended elements of the '58-'60 Corvette with the new back end of the '61. This was to be the last year of the 283ci engine and the last year for dual carbs on a small block Corvette. It was also the last year to get a contrasting color on the side coves, so '61 is definitely a milestone year for Corvette.The '61 presented here offers a great opportunity for someone looking for a nice, driver quality Corvette. Although, it was frame on restored several years ago, and is still in very nice condition, it could use a bit of T.L.C. to get it back to its former glory.
