Since Eddie Bauer Aerostar 1988 maiden year was this model, can be used--or resold to--movie makers, for many years’ settings of 1987 & after. Aerostars have been in many movies & TV series, such as Trapped, 1989; Columbo, 1989; Street Crimes, 1992; Blood & Wine, 1996; Because I Said So, 2007; LaMission, 2009; Inoe, 2007; Chuzhaya, 2010, Profugos, 2011-2013. TEENAGER CLUNKER: Get experience in this before moving up to more expensive or new. AIRPORT CLUNKER: Use only to and from airport parking lot. HAULER/STORAGE: As much room as a big closet! Store items awaiting pickup or move—dryer than open truck bed. COLLEGE TREKER: Lots of room for moving in and out of dorms. WHY THIS VEHICLE IS SPECIAL: IT’S A BED!!! Rear seats fold down to make a firm, comfortable FLAT BED! Takes queen-size linens -- mattress cover, sheets, etc. Fabric seats breathe. VINTAGE AGE/TAX BENEFIT: This almost 30-year old may qualify for a “HISTORICAL” license plates and/or reduced rate vehicle tax--check your state’s laws. Not many vehicles on the road this age in this good a repairable condition. LUXURY MODEL: This Eddie Bauer package was above Ford Aerostar XL Base, XL Plus, XLT Base, and XLT Plus version; many more options came standard. 7-passenger seating, rear air conditioning. Electronic Panel shows remaining miles, odometer, Average/Instant MPG, Average Speed. Speed control. Tilt steering wheel, privacy glass, power lumbar front seats, luggage rack, 14” wheels, etc. The 1995 Safety & Insurance Report Card brochure ranked Ford Aerostars as “Average”, “Above Average”, and top rating “Much Better than Average” in various categories. UNIQUENESS ON THE ROAD; MODEL HISTORY: Eddie Bauer version, manufactured only eight years—1988 (made in 1987), 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996! RARE, RARE, RARE ! ! ! ! VERY, VERY, VERY FEW ON THE ROAD NOW. The first 50 pages in an eBay search for “Aerostar Eddie Bauer” yielded not one whole Aerostar for sale. Only 2 non-luxury Eddie Bauer were found; neither had fold down seats or were in this good a condition. Blame “Cash for Clunkers” program to make these nearly extinct? UNIQUE/HARD TO FIND – Any minivan or SUV model with interior comfy flat bed like this is unheard of!!! Shame on automakers for not making many of these type seats. REPAIR/UPDATE HISTORY: Purchased 31 Oct 1987. Repair & maintenance records (oil changes, brake shoes, plugs, etc.): available to buyer at pickup time. 2006 whole-exterior paint job (like original, with 2-tone paint Deep Shadow Blue metallic with Light Chestnut Clearcoat Metallic bottom border). 2006: A/C System upgraded to R134A coolant. Est. 2007 June: Michelin Harmony tires. CONDITION of Vehicle: Total miles: 156,568 The good: See above update history. Fairly new battery. Tires: Good tread. Only 17,752 miles on tires. Shiny paint. The sad: Rust – Hardly any in a few areas close to road. Roof under rack: Paint peeling. Front Doors: Inside plastic or rubber panel cracked (See photos), junk yards may have replacements. Radio, digital aspect of side sliding door, & power locks: Iffy—sometime works. A/C may need more coolant; is anemic. Won’t start; undiagnosed by a professional. May be as simple as a starter solenoid or bad battery cable. May need tow unless buyer can get it started on site in Louisville. Front windshield, passenger side: crack from rock damage.
