Vehicle Detail
Nice "early" '56 T-Bird w/ black vinyl hardtop. Paint is in good shape all around and body is straight. Motor runs but needs some tuning. Tires are all very good. Odometer reads 49,992, but no way to know if that is actual or rolled over. Although the motor runs, you probably shouldn't count on driving it immediately, including for pickup. The battery has tested "good", but I've had to jump it each time I've started the car. And it takes a shot or three of starting fluid. Once it fires, it idles pretty smoothly. The first three photos shown are from the original listing when I bought the car in August. The rest are all in my garage here in Texas. I acquired the car this summer, but I simply don't have the time or space to do the minimum work to put this buggy in solid driver shape. Parts I have that are included but not installed:Continental Kit - chrome tire ring/inner and outer covers only (needs painting)Rear window with gasketHardtop roof rail seal kit, with installation hardware kitAll the parts to rebuild both rear hardtop fastenersNew drop curtain - blackNew quarterpanel cards - blackNew door glass for right sideDoor glass run - front - both right and left sidesDoor glass run lining - rear - both right and left sidesDoor lift channel weatherstrip - both right and left sidesa few other little odds and ends to spruce up the interior The right door interior trim and glass is currently dismantled. All the parts are there, just removed to try to repair the window motor and replace the glass run and lining. Of course, I broke the door glass so that is why there is a brand new one! I did disassemble, clean and reassemble the window motor. Armature spins freely now, but I haven't been able to test it to verify that it works. I can't find any exterior rust. The engine compartment is very clean and has been coated. Same for the undercarriage/frame rails. There is a little rust in the driver side floor pan, where the accelerator pedal mounts. I put in a temporary plate only to reattach the pedal, but it needs some attention. Someone with the available time and space to work on it should be able to get this Baby Bird back on the streets and turning heads pretty soon!
