Made in Germany. The A6 Avant S Line hauls lots of stuff and packs in lots of safety features, and does so with reasonable thirst--EPA estimates are 19 MPG city, 27 MPG highway. The S Line appearance and handling package sweetens this ride Audi’s exceptional mastery of the interior continues with the A6 Avant S Line, with a classy, comfortable and exacting finish to every part of the cabin. The dashboard is nicely de-cluttered by the MMI controller down by the gear lever It has comfortable seats front and rear and a big load bay with squared-off sides. A metal plate protects the cargo bay's threshold, At 33.9 cubic feet (59 cu. ft. with the seats folded down), it offers more cargo space than the BMW 5-series wagon. With the S Line's sport-tuned suspension and 3.2 liter engine and 255 horsepower makes for a surprisingly fast ride. The 6-speed automatic helps; more gear ratios allow the engine to spend more time at the RPMs where it develops the most power. Audi's FSI fuel-injection technology is to thank for the snappy throttle response as well as the decent fuel economy. With all-wheel-drive (standard on the A6 Avant), performance tires (part of the S Line package), and electronic stability control makes this car handle like a dream in all conditions. You can toss the A6 into the curves at dry-road speeds, and the ESC system does its job, braking individual wheels and modulating the power so as to keep the A6 on course. Additional safety features the A6 has lots of airbags as standard equipment. One great feature is the backup camera (again, part of the Technology Package). With orange lines that show the path the car will take as you turn the steering wheel and a beeper that tells you how close you're getting to what's behind you, it makes parking this car a cinch. The A6 is the best looking of the Euro-wagons especially with the S Line package. And when the weather goes bad, the A6 is the car to have. It's a tempting proposition and this car proves the Europeans know what they're doing. This Avant is steady on the freeway with a 111.9 inch wheelbase and this pays dividends in interior space with 34 cubic feet of cargo room. Audi has found ways to make hauling stuff more efficient: divider nets, a two-rail system with tie-down rings, a telescoping arm and attachment belt, and a retractable floor with a big cargo tray stowed below it for filthy things like your hiking boots and that stinky box of fishing lures. You can even program how high you want the rear hatch to extend when opened. Also LED taillights, whose dozens of individual beams suggest little design Milky Ways, and the big dual exhaust pipes are visible.
