Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 2002 Volkswagen Passat sedan. It has issues and is being sold for parts or repair only. This car has been off the road since November of 2014. At that time, the vehicle would have required about $1,300 in repairs to pass inspection in New York State as follows: Replace PCV unit: $168 for parts, $120 for labor Replace valve cover gaskets (Oil smell when car is running) $600, mostly labor. Repair exhaust leak: $300 flex pipe and labor The check engine light is on and the vehicle has the following 3 codes as of August 2nd: P0171- Fuel trim system too lean, Bank 1 P0174- Fuel trim system too lean, Bank 2 P2096- Post catalyst fuel trim system too lean, Bank 1 The engine starts and runs, but makes a ticking sound (valves?) Other problems are: The keyless entry system doesn’t work The right front fender and headlight suffered some damage from being backed into. The headlights are fogged with age; the right has small cracks at the bottom and condensation inside. The vehicle requires premium fuel. The vehicle has a full size spare, which is on the right front of the car. The original wheel is in the trunk. In addition there is an extra tire in the trunk. The rear tires and extra tire are in excellent shape with little wear. The spare and two front tires have some wear. The car’s mileage is approximately 147,000 miles. However, the odometer shows only 14,449 as the instrument cluster failed at about 132,000 miles and needed to be replaced.Just no make it clear, this vehicle is not in usable condition and is being sold AS-IS. Buyer is responsible for picking up the vehicle. I would strongly recommend towing due to the length of time it has been off the road. My job keeps me on the road most of the week, but I should be home to answer any questions you might have on early afternoons on Monday, Wednesday and Friday until the close of the auction.
