Vehicle Detail

1996 Ford E250 Cargo Van. 77,345 original miles. 4X4 Conversion. Strong running 351 Windsor motor. Does not smoke or use oil. Vehicle is dry underneath. Automatic transmission. 2 speed transfer case. 3.73 gears front and rear. Brand new 33" BFG All-Terrain radial tires ( cost $1200 ) Front and rear AC. Powered roof vent. This van was formerly an Atlanta Ga area municipal vehicle. It has been professionally maintained by their ASE trained mechanics. I have their service records from 1997. This van runs and shifts fine. Drives well and stops straight. It handles more like a truck with the front leaf suspension. I drove it from Atlanta to Augusta on 1-20 at 65-70 mph. No problems.I intended to build an expedition vehicle / camper out of this van, but situations and plans have changed and I am not able to complete it. So I have decided to sell it. Overall this is a very solid van. Drive it anywhere. It needs cosmetic work ( mostly paint) and a few details.Build your own camper or resume as a dependable service vehicle. This would be an excellent beach van for the Outer Banks or camper van for remote areas. It is a real head turner as is. I have many extras included with this van intended for my buildout. Two swiveling seat pedestals, inverter, house battery, table top and pedestals. Replacement door gaskets. Rear view mirror. Additional folding third seat with integral lap belt. I have the original rectangular glass headlights and wire harness. "Vent shades" for the front side windows. There are boxes of parts and fasteners. The AC compressor engages, but does not blow cold. I have not had it checked out yet. There are no check engine lights, but the airbag light recently stated flashing code "32" cwhich I am told is the " clockspring" . This is a $100 part +/- and an hour or so of labor. I have just not been able to get to it yet. Please see photos for more detail. The milage may change as I am still driving this van. This van is sold as is. PayPal Deposit $500 is due immediately and the balance (bank / cashiers check, cash in person ) due at pick up. Please do not bid unless you have the funds and your wife or partner is in agreement with you. Contact me first if you have less than 5 transactions. If you have questions or concerns please contact me before bidding. You are encouraged to view this van prior to bidding and purchase. No tire kickers or joy rides please. Thank you for looking. On Aug-11-16 at 10:02:44 PDT, seller added the following information: The rear axle is a semi-floating Dana 60 with 3:73 gears. The front is a HD Dana High Pinion 44 from an F250. The transfer case is a Borg Warner 1356 with 2.69.1 low range. This allows good low end gearing and still good highway speed. The transmission is a 4 speed overdrive. This vehicle had Helwig overload springs on the back that were removed, but are included in the sale if wanted. I was going to convert to airbags. The "auto check " / car fax records indicate it being a government vehicle for 19 years. There was one minor event with another vehicle that only involved the front bumper according to the service records. The rest of the reports are dealer services reported and the title transfer to me.On Aug-13-16 at 11:29:17 PDT, seller added the following information: There have been inquiries on who did the 4x4 conversion. While I do not have much detail on the builder, other than viewing the obvious components, one would have to conclude that it was done by a reputable and knowledgable company as this was a former commercial vehicle owned and operated for 19 years by a municipal/county water works department. I doubt they would have risked using a backyard build on a country owned and maintained vehicle. The only labels on it are that of "Drive Line Service of Atlanta" on the drive shafts. I hope this helps. Also FYI, the 351 is an EFI motor if anyone was questioning that. Please contact me if you need more info or picture of anything on this vehicle. Thank you. On Aug-13-16 at 18:14:35 PDT, seller added the following information: There have been inquiries regarding the paint and extent of the rust. The paint is original. The bare spots are from the paint peeling. There is paint loss from typical wear by the door steps. Some of the paint loss areas have surface rust. The grey areas are the factory primer showing. There is no pitting rust or thru rust anywhere on this vehicle inside or out. The roof edges have the heaviest surface rust, but even those areas are in no way rusted thru. It is difficult to photograph it effectively to show this detail. I know it would have been better to have sanded it down and at least primed it, but my situation is not allowing me to do that at this time. Therefore I am showing the vehicle as it is. The chassis is the same. It is Light surface rust. It just needs light sanding and paint or undercoat as desired. Or just leave it as is. Thank you. On Aug-14-16 at 18:03:39 PDT, seller added the following information: I just added picture number 23 to show where I had easily sanded the surface rust off a spot on the roof. a portion of the sanded part is clean bare metal. I primed part of the sanded area for contrast and I just added picture number 23 to show where I had easily sanded thru the surface rust on the roof. This test area shows bright shiny bare metal under that surface rust. Hope this helps with any concerns regarding the rust issue. Thank You.
