Vehicle Detail

This '62 Greenbrier has a freshly rebuilt engine and 4-speed transmission. I've read plenty of ads where the seller says he has too many projects, and I was always skeptical. But now I have 3 other cars that have become projects, and more cars than I can regularly drive, so this one goes up for sale. If you know Corvairs, the Greenbrier needs no explanation. If you don't, here's a quick one: these vans were built from 1961-65 only, and have a set of double doors on the passenger side, behind the front passenger door, that open up to a pair of bench seats. Those bench seats are easily removed if you want to use the van to haul a lot of stuff. This van is fun to drive (in my opinion) because of the 4-speed manual transmission. Greenbriers have lots of glass and thus great visibility. This van has had seat belts added, and has a period correct AM radio, though I don't know if it's original. Four new tires with less than 200 miles on them. The spare is good but not new. Glass is all good, no cracks or chips that I have noticed. One of the rear window roll-up handles has gone missing but they are easy to find. Chevy wheel covers on each rim except for the spare. Greenbriers originally had a 95 hp engine. This one has a later engine, I think it is 110 hp, with an alternator rather than a generator. The engine starts easily and idles smooth. Many new parts went into the rebuild including magnafluxed cylinder head, new pistons and rod bearings, rebuilt carburetors (with #52 jets), and a correct oversized Corvair oil cooler. Transmission was professionally rebuilt last year and shifts through all gears smoothly. Brakes are good all around, and do not pull to the side. Even the light in the glove box works. This is a nice driver-quality van. Body shows some rust and evidence of filler, but it still looks good. Drive it as it is or restore it while you drive it. I've owned Corvairs for nearly 20 years and am happy to answer any questions.
