Vehicle Detail
2004 RX-8 Grand Touring - This car is essentially stock except for the dark graphite satin powder coating on the original rims and a black halo racing ignition kit. I purchased this car with 58k miles. I have used Idemitsu pre-mix lube for the last 12k miles and in the trunk when I purchased the vehicle were 3 unopened quarts suggesting the owner prior to my purchase used pre-mix. If you are not familiar with pre-mixing fuel with the rotary engine check it out. Upon purchasing the vehicle I changed the rear differential, transmission fluid, added the BHR ignition and changed the oil every 3k I owned the vehicle. I have my receipts. The car drives great, very solid shifting, suspension, etc. About 1 month ago the drivers side remote unlock stopped working, I heard a louder click when unlocking the car so I am assuming the actuator spring broke, worked fine before that. Also, the remote trunk unlock did not work when I purchased the vehicle, I never fixed it because it did not bother me. I did not change the coolant as I would recommend changing that as I do not know when it was changed last. The tires are brand new last summer so they have about 2-3k miles on them, no abuse, etc. The rims were powder coated at the same time and have zero flaws in the coating. The only other issue is the heat/ac control dial occasionally will go to full heat in the summer or winter. If you move the dial slowly up and down a few clicks it will go back to normal. This is a know problem with the earlier RX-8's and there is a fix for it on the forums. Also, the previous owner had sealed the rear fenders due to rusting and masked off and sprayed about an inch above the wheel well. If you look at the rim pictures on the rear you can see what I am talking about. Check it out very impressive -Thanks.
