Vehicle Detail

1986 Suzuki GS450L PROJECT Motorcycle, Original Title in hand! $550.00 or make a serious decent offer - any low-ball offers will be ignored. This is a PROJECT bike, it is NOT RUNNING, it will need to be loaded onto your TRAILER when you pick it up LOCALLY. It can be made to run easily enough. I am attempting to list as much information as possible so you can make an informed decision on whether or not this bike is for you. I am NOT scheduling viewings of the bike, what you see is what you get. If you are looking into having a fun project bike or just need parts for another bike, read on and check out some of the cool stuff that comes with this bike- you know what you are looking for. If you are not in the market for a PROJECT bike or parts bike, stop reading. That being said, this bike is in great condition for being 30 years old! It was running when I bought it, but has some issues so I was in the process of rebuilding it into a scrambler or some other runabout style bike for putting around on. Odometer reads 18299 miles ***see pictures*** What you get: -The bike (all the parts, whether currently installed to the bike or not) see list of items not installed (most bolts/smaller parts are marked in baggies) -Clymer Manual for this make/model/year, plus a color wiring diagram I found and printed -Complete new engine gasket kit -New carburetor plugs -Documentation of stuff bought (battery, gaskets, etc.) -New(ish) battery that has been kept charged. -Battery charger/maintainer ***BONUS*** -An actual TITLE! (It is the ORIGINAL Illinois title that should be easily transferrable should you choose to do so. It is signed only by the original owner) Things that have been done: -Cleaned inside of tank with vinegar and bolt treatment, thoroughly rinsed with water and immediately air power dried with isopropyl rinse -Lined inside of tank with Redkote -Removed, cleaned and rebuilt starter motor with new brush assembly- it is currently NOT working, maybe you can figure out what is wrong with it. Resistances tested good throughout, but will not spin on a bench test. It was getting stuck occasionally when I went to start the bike, so that's why I decided to clean/rebuild it. Don't know what could be wrong with it now. -Removed sending unit from tank, replaced rubber tank gasket with brand new OEM gasket. -Stripped exterior tank paint. Primed tank black and sprayed yellow. -Removed seat -Removed fenders -Removed carburetor -Touched up some mild corrosion on the the frame -New petcock -New battery Things that need work or replacement and things that are not installed: -Front tire will not hold air for long -Carburetor needs a little cleaning up, but should be good with the new plugs, it is currently not installed on bike -fenders are currently not installed on bike -tank is currently not installed on bike, and in the process of stripping the paint I discovered a bondo patch on one side of the tank. It is still sealed and seems solid, but just FYI cosmetically it doesn't look awesome. Could be made to look just fine easily. -Seat is currently not installed, and if I remember correctly I think one of the seat connections needs work, easy fix though -as before, the starter motor is not installed - has been rebuilt but will not turn over -sending unit was removed from tank, so no fuel gauge operation - don't really need it if you're going to turn it into a scrambler or some other runabout or rat bike, but I still have the float/unit assembly -MILD rust spots on frame and exhaust, typical for a bike this age -Corroded baffles in exhaust -Small abrasion/scratch on headlight -Check forks -Chain needs adjustment and cleaning -Brakes need to be checked -Fuel lines and breather hoses should be changed -Change the oil when you get it home - I've changed it once since I've had it, but this is always a good idea! As stated above, this bike was running when it was purchased, but is NOT running now due to the state of the rebuild. My circumstances have changed and I am wanting to sell it to fund another, more important, project. So my loss is your gain! I'm not going to give you some "barn find", "rare collectible", or "gently used bike" story - I have no idea how the bike was treated before it was purchased, but it obviously was not ill-treated due to the overall good condition. As long as it has been in my possession it has been garage-kept and SEEMS like it has been always kept out of the elements. Someone did ride it regularly though, that much is certain. After payment is received via paypal, we will communicate a good time for you to come pick up the bike. I will help you load it onto your trailer if you require assistance and we can talk further about the bike if you want - I'll tell you everything I know about it - but pretty much all there is to know is explained in this listing. Serious inquiries only, feel free to ask questions, but really - if you have read this far, you have an idea of what you are looking for and you either want a bike like this or you don't. If you are considering it, know that it won't break the bank even if you have to sit on it a while, and it will be a fun project if you are someone who likes to tinker and rebuild stuff. Again, I am NOT showing the bike, it's too good a bargain for me to go through that hassle. No returns or guarantees, FOR LOCAL PICKUP ONLY, paypal only. Thanks for looking!
