Listed again, due to winning bidder family issues, ( so he said ) and he is not able to complete the transaction at this time. Please do not bid if not ready!! This 1973 BMW 2002tii, matching numbers, chassis 2762739, Engine 2762739 is a running, complete car from the final year with round taillights and small bumpers. It is said that it was one family owned since new. The car was parked in a barn at the Cape Cod summer house in 2004. It was then transported to a shop where some work was done including cleaning and resealing the fuel tank, and the cost was $1800 roughly. There is some rust detailed below but the car does run and drives. It will need work to be reliable and roadworthy once again but looks to be a good tii project car. Outside, Fjord blue paint. Bodywork looks largely straight overall. 1973 was the final year for round-taillight ’02s and smaller chrome bumpers. Other exterior trim is complete down to the slotted hub caps on steel wheels. The car has notable rust the passenger side rocker, undersides of the passenger floor and lower front valance. Additional bubbling is visible in a rear corner, the rear license plate area and under the windshield trim along with flaking and oxidization in the engine bay. The trunk area looks clean, shock towers are in good condition. Inside, blue vinyl upholstery still fits seats and door panels and notable damage seems limited to tears in the driver’s seat back. Factory-style salt and pepper carpets and headliner look intact if dirty, while the dash has multiple cracks and is home to temporary wiring hanging beneath. The starter relay is flaky and will need replacement. Gauges, controls and trim are complete except for the stock steering wheel, which has been replaced with a nice Momo Prototipo. BMW-branded AM/FM cassette deck resides in the console, and there are a pair of aftermarket speakers on the rear parcel shelf. Door panels are uncut. Underhood, the 2000cc, Kugelfischer-injected powerplant, starting and running as seen in the video ( https://youtu.be/g7GNKE7euV8 ) – its idle is slightly rough but it rev smoothly. A leaky water pump means it can’t be run for long periods but the car is drivable. The motor shows even compression when tested cold on “dry” cylinders as shown in the photo gallery and video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMZk-cGsDzA ) . I was told motor has been rebuilt some 10K miles ago but have no evidence other than compression numbers. The clutch and four-speed manual transmission are good and operate with no second gear crunch. The brakes work but should be gone through. A factory jack and spare tire as well as some spare trim pieces are included in the sale, and the car has a clean Massachusetts title. Please remember this car was in storage for 10 years and will need awakening. Fairly easy turn into daily driver or good full rest candidate.
